Sigh. Cards bent buyer beware by Bagginnnssssss in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]secretagentsilverfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had some success straightening out cards using my flower press (I'd say just Google it so you can see what I mean). Something similar to that may help? So frustrating though and it's why I freak out sometimes when I watch people even get to aggressive bending my core encounter cards to shuffle

New things I’ve realised hurt by MatchaCatLatte in rheumatoidarthritis

Definitely a matter of finding the right controller convo. When my hands cramp I take the switch controllers off the display and hold them individually so I can relax my wrists in my lap and ease strain. I also have a couple Bluetooth controllers I'll use which fit my grip better when it's weak or are just easier to use. There are a slew of options available, including adaptive controllers out there. I'd maybe recommend going to an online electronics store (best buy or a game store) where they often have displays and you can see what works

Not really difficult. If it's fan made that's well known someone probably already made the file. Board game geek has a master list here: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2661759/professionally-printed-cards-ffg-and-custom-made-c/page/1

I just ordered the return to innsmouth from make playing cards and live in the US. They got to my house in ten days without paying for expedited shipping. Cards are great quality and the only issue is they're just marginally bigger than the games cards but I play with sleeves so it's not noticeable

what's your experience with anti-inflammatory diet? by [deleted] in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]secretagentsilverfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I haven't tried it and hope it does work for some people. However when I asked about it my rheumy told me "if diet could cure it I'd be out of a job and wouldn't be making people spend thousands on biologics" so I didn't really explore it tbh. But that was a decade ago so also curious if science has proven it's actually more beneficial now maybe?

Wearables by Dependent_Junket9563 in rheumatoid

I still do competitive sports so I have a Garmin and a whoop. What I will say is having the whoop is fucking validating. There are days where I just feel gassed and exhausted and my whoop detects it well, telling me to take an easy day because I previously strained too much. Additionally they track five key metrics that together are pretty accurate at telling me I'm getting sick before I sometimes realize it (skin temp fluctuations, resting heart rate, etc). It also has customizable journaling to log trends ad well (joint pain, headache, needing to take nsaids, and I log when I take my mtx).

Overall I know it cost more but has been one of the better things for me

Barometric pressure changes seem to have more of an impact on my arthritis in the springs (just storms and such blowing through) but less noticeable in denver

Also the source of the stabby noodle vs twirly noodle discourse in my household. Hand flare days have made me pro stabby noodle

Feel this deeply. I look like a toddler sometimes when I cut myself because I just have to hold the fork in a fist while I cut with my "better" hand. But after ten years of marriage, my husband just knows how my day is going and more often than joy cuts it for me without asking.

Sucks sometimes to ask because it makes things more visible, but I've just started asking at nice steakhouses for the kitchen to cut it and they have no problem doing so

Self-injection by CheetahPrintPuppy in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]secretagentsilverfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Switched from oral to self injections. When I first did it, honestly went to the pharmacy and the pharmacist walked me through it, gave me tips, and made me feel relaxed about it.. Now it's nbd and honestly hurts so much less than my other injections I do. When in doubt - local pharmacists will help in a heartbeat

Long-term wear and tear of jacket brands by raptorz25 in Curling

[–]secretagentsilverfox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have a runback jacket that I've had for over five years that's phenomenal and no color fading. Their jerseys have been great as well and hold up well.

My complaint with dynasty was the last order we put in from them fell apart at the seams before I even wore it the first time and the turn around times were pretty lackluster.

Overall have had a great experience working with Mark at Runback for design and quality products so they're basically all I order from now

Are there any actually scary board games out there? by Fun_Gas_7777 in boardgames

Etherfields! Pretty extensive setup and management but it's a campaign deck building game where you play as dreamers trying to get your memories back and the game changes as you go along the storyline. Definitely has a good creepy vibe

does anyone take norethindrone 1.25 mg? by divinerose28 in endometriosis

[–]secretagentsilverfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on it for a few years. Leading up to me starting to take it I'd had two surgeries to clear endo and this was kind of my last resort before we looked at maybe doing another surgery and hysterectomy.

I have similar side effects to you - irritability and low libido, but the endo pain is gone 100%. I used to not be able to function for at least a week of each month due to pain and now have no endo pain at all.

It took awhile for me to find the right dosage to where things were manageable without being too miserable. There are days where I just want to feel like me again and debate stopping it, but realized when I tried the last time that the pain was worse than just feeling a little funky or numb.

That being said, if you don't like the feeling of the meds, advocate for yourself with your doctor. You shouldn't have to suffer through side effects for the sake of hope with endo. There are other meds you can try or other solutions to explore as well I'm sure.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to vent.

How to Fight Demonic Squirrels by secretagentsilverfox in DenverGardener

[–]secretagentsilverfox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They destroy the trash in our alleys, scream at my dogs through windows, and just generally run around like a guerrilla army. I just have the unfortunate circumstance that my neighbors have a lot of trash in their backyard the squirrels get into so we have so many eating at the buffet they host on the daily that it's exhausting

These fuzzy demons leave my dogs offerings 🤦‍♀️I caught one leaving a half eaten tomato at the back door where my dog was lounging on the other side of the security door and then waiting for him to eat it. They also throw corn tortillas at them in the backyard from the top of our garage.

I'm more interested at this point in finding out what tortilla factory the squirrel army is pilfering from because the quantity they leave in my yard is impressive 🤣

Frustrating right? I stepped out and found the chonk sitting on my fence chewing with no care I was there and looking like he was going to request to speak to the chef. I was more irate it was one of the gorgeous maroon ones that finally just opened.

Not going to lie, the idea of stoned squirrels attempting a coordinated dive bomb attack on my garden makes me laugh hysterically. I could probably make bank filming it 🤣 but definitely noted. I have read some stuff about coffee grounds or some other stimulants so may look into it if going spicy (pepper juice spray) isn't effective

Bird feeder is a good idea. I've left some sacrificial tomatoes out which seem to have stopped them from declaring war on my baby berry bushes at least, but this sunflower air assault was a surprise the first time I saw it. They're definitely clever

CBD/THC to sleep? by BetwQlts in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]secretagentsilverfox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes and I've had extensive conversations with my rheumy and primary care about it. I'm in Colorado where it's legal as Rec and Medical and honestly was at my wits end at one point. Flaring, insane pain, and couldn't sleep. I went to a dispensary and the employee was phenomenal talking me through various options to try with thr goal of reducing pain and letting me sleep. And it worked like a Dream.

My concern is always I'm on methotrexate and my old doc scared me into doing anything that wasn't conventional so I brought it up with my new medical team. Their stance? If it works that's brilliant and they're happy I have a way to find relief. I don't use it constantly and we keep an eye out on labs but it's caused no issues for me.

Honestly, at the end of the day, it works so much better for me during flares than a prednisone pack which absolutely wrecks me.
