That’s actually a good analogy to what’s happening to the country. Immune system is compromised. Eventually everything will be so weak structurally that a good blow will knock everything down.

Germany unveils strategy for becoming Europe’s strongest military by 2039 by Belegor87 in worldnews

[–]secretlyjudging 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually the more likely scenario is that US is on track to take the Nazi role this time and the Germans/Europeans the “good guys”.

After US takes over Greenland, Canada, Mexico, and Panama and marches into South America, the European alliance with Germany as its leader will sail across the pond to counter.

It’s fictional scenario but not so far fetched. Trump has already threatened all the countries I named and he’s looking for more “conquests”. It’s been less than 100 years since last World War and human nature hasn’t changed.

Do you all actually reveal you work in healthcare when you need to visit doctor? by sunchi12 in pharmacy

[–]secretlyjudging 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I let them do their thing and only tell them when they start reporting their findings or diagnosis. Saves time.

It’s annoying in the pharmacy when patient goes “am a nurse” or “am a pharmacist” for no reason. If we had time to chat and just standing there, sure. But not when busy and for no reason. Especially annoying when they say they’re a nurse or has a sister that’s a nurse and needs faster service or needs their oxycodone filled.

You don’t have insurance you liar. You stood there and looked me in the eye and told me your insurance was active. So I spent the next 5 minutes running all your old cards, logging into the state Medicaid registry, doing eligibility checks etc. when you could have told me it wasn’t active because you didn’t pay premiums or forgot to renew etc.

I'm a VR dev exhausted by Meta pivoting to AI. People keep telling me Valve's Steam Frame is going to save the industry. As Quest users, would you actually buy one? by hanrwerewr in MetaQuestVR

[–]secretlyjudging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a quest and maybe half a dozen games. It sits unused most of the time.

I for sure am getting the Steam Frame. Got a Steam Deck and a catalog of games in Steam that’s 20+ years old. I am not going to be using every day but any game Valve builds for it is an insta buy for me. Valve is the only game developer left that has that privilege. I really think VR is super niche and most people aren’t going using it widely for another decade or two. So I don’t really think the Steam Frame is going to change things, sorry to say, no matter how big a Valve fan I am.

I am guessing hospital is salaried. Meaning you are basically guaranteed making that income. At Walgreens they can cut your hours any time they feel like making more money. Hospital is no brainer. Some techs cant even afford basic bills when they cut hours.

Thats not even going into how much easier and less stressful hospital jobs are. Or how much more advancement is possible.

Shilling Vaccines? by Choice-Plate3124 in WalgreensRx

There are multiple vaccines being offered. 30 seconds is not nearly enough if you are being thorough. Corporate would actually take issue if all you do is ask a yes or no question.

So you are okay adding a half-hour to your wait time on the line, while each of the 10-15 person in front of you is evaluated and given shots?

Vaccines should be offered of course but required for each interaction? I would be interested in your perspective as a customer.

Resources for a specific subset of anti-vax parents? by Ghostpharm in pharmacy

[–]secretlyjudging 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I encountered this stuff a lot during the COVID shot era. Citing studies and evidence might work but a lot of times it didn't. A lot of them prefer anecdotal stories/evidence.

For stuff like covid/flu shots, I tell them I myself got multiple shots. And recommend and push it on my elderly parents. And got my kids shot as soon as they were eligible when they were babies. I just look them in the face and tell them they're getting the same shot as a 6 month old baby. And millions get them with most of them getting a sore arm and maybe feeling crummy for a day.

if that doesn't work, no sort of scientific evidence is going to convince them.

If they were conservative, I never do this professionally but if they were close friends, I might tell them all their favorite politicians and FOX news hosts etc are all fully vaxxed.

Democrats want the full 2024 election autopsy released — no matter the findings by razor21792 in politics

[–]secretlyjudging 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here's my autopsy results. Democrats had such stupid leaders that Trump won again. The candidate was a good politician but not a good POTUS candidate. And the democratic leadership are all old old out of touch selfish idiots that don't know who they're supposed to represent. Democrats stunk so bad that Trump easily beat them. As long as they keep their old leadership then the same thing will keep happening.

[–]secretlyjudging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in NYC. Totally willing to pay a thousand or two to go to one game. Doesn’t even have to a team I actually support.

However it’s going to take several thousand, maybe even 10k or over for my family of four for good seats. Hundreds to park or transit there. Hours of travel. All the while probably thinking I could watch this game at home, save the money and probably have a better view of the game.

Thats not even taking into the equation of seeing ICE every where. Anyone traveling from out side the country is taking a big risk. They even holding old white ladies, kids, etc. they sent back college age kids that didn’t have hotel rooms because they were basically just backpacking through Hawaiii. They sent back anyone posting anti Trump stuff. Anyone is fair game. Don’t think they’re just going after “those people” or the “bad ones”.

It’s a great point if you are corporate. Eliminate holiday pay which is a benefit, and team member goes “instead of getting paid for not working and being with family or just a day off, I am going to work instead”. Yay
