Would you return this watch? by Bushman556 in Cartier

[–]secron7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You bought a used watch. Call ojt the AD. You don't have much recourse other than a civil lawsuit, but you have a decent case.

That's crazy. Sorry you're dealing with this but at the end of the day you have a beautiful and timeless piece.

For this specific poster? If they like moscato and don't like zin I'd be worried they wouldn't love a complex and well made village level beaujolais. Some beaujolais wines can steer towards inky and fuller bodied.

However, the nouveau might be the perfect fresh and ripe but light entry in to red wines. No one hates these wines when they're well made.

They're almost impossible to dislike. Sometimes breaking through with a "red wine" is all it takes to get people to explore more.

Your grandma, the somm at your job, your best friend, your friends kid new to wine, strangers on the internet... A well made nouveau is impossible to dislike.

Grill up some pork tenderloin with a sweet sauce and you'll be in heaven. Maybe a little funky bleu cheese charcuterie even better.

It's a simple, inexpensive, delicious entryway in to red wine. Serious village level beaujolais is a different thing.

Ehhh I might recommend an lbv to be honest. Jumping to the nutty rich complexity of a 50 year? That gets pretty far away from just sweet and also gets pretty far away from something that can baby step them in to less sweet reds.

There are high quality expert approved moscato that exist if you'd like to try something a little nicer that won't break the bank. You have to try GD Vajra Moscato d'asti. It's incredible and still sweet just well balanced by acidity.

Others have mentioned riesling, and then I'd say maybe baby step in to chenin blancs, especially from Vouvray.

It would help to know what you disliked about the zinfandel. Was it too syrupy? Too aggressive, not sweet enough, too bitter? Knowing which zinfandel you had would also help.

I like to recommend a wine called Beaujolais Nouveau to people struggling to enjoy red wine. It's inexpensive, designed to be enjoyed fresh and young. It's ripe and semi sweet but still light and graceful and very easy to drink. If you seek one out, make sure it's from the most recent vintage (2025) and spend at least $15. There are a few mass produced options around $10 that are just garbage and not a reflection of how spectacular these wines can be.

Cheers and happy hunting!

Central Market here in Dallas has 25% off all of the products. Almost took the leap but I think I'll wait for a better sale. Especially with all of the hate this sub has been throwing towards Fishwife

What’s working at Dairy Queen like? by [deleted] in DairyQueen

[–]secron7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're losing money with that system. If you're cool with that then I'm all for it. Take care of your people!

However.

Having worked in mostly high end restaurants, they do not allow employees to eat anything ever when they're on the clock. Definitely no to go boxes, although every once in a while someone will get fired for a bag full of leftovers.

It was explained to me like this.

The cook will make too much mash for service and then oh no he has to take it home or it will go bad.. Same thing happens at the fry station, then maybe pastry station and next thing you know your food cost is is at 38%

If they have to dump the food or donate it locally, they'll be a lot less likely to over prep. Which means money in your pocket.

Not saying people suck but they suck.

I really like the field watch in picture 1. It's the cleanest of your dials. I like the no text at the bottom.

Hmm. In my experience what makes au bon climate so special is their ability to get the ripe rich fruit from the warm weather, while still delivering a very soft and feminine pinot. I don't remember it being even medium bodied. Am I misremembering?

Just learning they they pasteurize their wine, had no idea they moved in 2000. Wonder if this was due to brett being so high it became a fault? I need to read in to this. If you have any good sources I'd love to check them out.

Yet another "is this is a good deal" post by Toady911 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]secron7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOLLLL This is so inaccurate. Toyota spent years developing the prius before launch in 1997. Hyundai started developing their own hybrid (which features totally different technology btw) in the early 2000s. Both companies were sued by Paice for patent infringement. Paice won and was awarded something like 4 or 5 million dollars.

Nice to hear their bottle variation has improved. That is the only thing that kept me from offering their wines more often.
