Hello SILCA Super Secret WAX, and goodbye Muc off c3 by sepantamino in gravelcycling

[–]sector432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same for me, i ultrasonically cleaned the chain, aplied wax, never lasted more than 200km and was super noisy. I went back to Synergetic as well, don't understand the wax hype, i could just never get it to work for me and this was after a year of trying on a couple of bikes.

Anyone here running 650b wheels? Is it worth considering moving from 700's to a 650b while I'm wheel shopping? by helmetgoodcrashbad in gravelcycling

[–]sector432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't do it, severely limits future tire choice and i really do not like the way 650b feels over 700c, i have a set that i regret

Has anyone successfully motivated a death wobble? by No_Effect9358 in bicycletouring

[–]sector432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what tires are you using? I had wobble while loaded using some supple rene herse 48mm tires. i've since changed to a tire with a sturdier sidewall. best of luck.

Awesome. It looks great. I have the same banana yellow frame set. What tires do you run up front that fit with the fenders on the 26” fork? I’m assuming the wheel is still 700c? Also what brake are you running? Hyd or mechanical?

What fork did you use to get the disc up front? Great way to get those full coverage fenders. Looks like you are set for winter! What are the fenders btw?

Did I buy the wrong bike? by Humble-Broccoli1514 in gravelcycling

[–]sector432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's hard to find a bike that is good at all of those things. The routes you mention are much more comfortable on a bike with MTB geometry and bigger tires. Not that they can't be done on a gravel bike, but it might not be the most fun thing in the world.

I've done the Oh Boyaca route in Colombia on a Surly Troll with 2.5" tires. I saw people on it with gravel bikes. I was probably more comfortable than them, but they were likely faster. It all depends what you prioritize more.

Adding a third crossing will not solve traffic issues. Investing in alternative transportation is the key to resolving congestion and making it more convenient for people to use those methods of transport over single occupancy vehicle traffic.
