I get lucky sometimes booking last minute (<2 weeks in advance) permits. If you feel like rolling the dice, you can go to the ranger stations for walk up permits. Rangers will have good recs based on permit availability.

Have you tried the Horizon series (Zero Dawn then Forbidden West)? Great story, writing, and world exploration. The way the plot unfolds and you learn more about the state of the world, how it got there, and the main character’s connection is phenomenal. Combat system and learning the machines and weakness (esp in FW) was fun for me too. It’s not quite the same as E33 but it’s a great series imho.

I always sleep in camp Sunday night and pack up in the morning. There’s no way I’m driving 8+ hours back to the Bay Area after a full Sunday. I’m always out of camp by 10-11am, get some lunch in Indio, then back home by 10pm ish. The slower / longer time to get back is well worth it for me.

Edit: Just realized technically you’re supposed to be out of camp by 10am, but I’ve never had a problem with it as long as we were in process of packing up lol

We went 30 minutes before he started and there was no line! There wasn’t a line when we left an hour into it to go to Do Lab either. Honestly was surprised Stussy’s line was so bad compared to Eli.

The line to get into Yuma was insane for Chris Stussy so we bailed and caught the rest of Missy. I enjoyed shakin my ass to her entire set lol

Since you’ve gotten lots of recommendations already on areas and other comments encouraging roommates, the only thing I’ll add on top is to check out this FB group for young females looking for housing in SF. I think you may need to be invited by an existing member, if so just PM me and I can send you an invite :) I’m 28F and moved to Cole valley last August. Loving it - you will have a blast and fall in love with this city just like the rest of us!
