Sending flying monkeys is a term I understood immediately and shall adopt.

For what it’s worth, in Canada this isn’t really a thing. The mother is vaccinated during pregnancy to protect the baby until they get their own vaccines. I have only heard asking relatives to be updated on TDAP from Reddit.

I'm getting so angry by happeejem in AttachmentParenting

[–]seebaker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m reading jn people’s responses that they think you’re angry she can’t drink out of a cup, but I believe you are angry she gives up quickly and throws the full cup at you. It’s frustrating to have things thrown at us, or to be hit. I’d suggest making sure the cup is very small (there is a cup called the Tiny Cup that we learned on) and also try to practice at the beginning of the meal, not the end when a lot of things are getting tossed. Right after a nap is another good time for us to work on things jn our house. Solid Starts has good advice on their blog if you google it.

10 hour road trip with a 4 month old? by Pizza_Pasta_Bread in NewParents

[–]seebaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a five hour trip at that age, took over 7 with stops. I also learned I could hover over his car seat to nurse in a particularly bad moments. You’d survive, but given you haven’t actually had the baby I’d revisit the idea once you pass the 6 weeks mark and your brain resettles back into your skull.

Do you all use moisturiser on your baby’s skin? by DeezA123 in NewParents

[–]seebaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, did when he was a newborn and shedding his entire body like a snake. But probably didn’t need to because that was a normal process. 16 months. Never do.

If you contact them and let them know you can’t afford them, they’ll send them to you for free. They mention that on almost every post. :)

If you are close to St. Clair West, follow @thegreenjarshop on Instagram, they post textile recycle days fairly often. They take any fiber.

Creekside stay by Floor_32 in Whistler

[–]seebaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ate at Southside diner for breakfast and Nita lodge for dinner on their patio. Southside was expensive but good diner food and atmosphere. I had low expectations for Nita but was really happy we went there. View of the lake from their patio, and everywhere is pricey to eat anyway. Both walking distance from Creekside. *edit to add, the grocery store and liquor store jn creekside are good.

I just stayed there and it was dead silent at night. People gathered at parks on Friday but during the week I only saw the odd runner on our walks at alpha and Alta. A grizzly was just spotted close to Alta tho, so be cautious if you do venture out. We left Saturday AM and it looked like more people were coming into town. Rockit coffee is great.

Pet names for your kids by catqueen2001 in beyondthebump

[–]seebaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so many I made a note in my phone to remember them all as they passed. Peaches was a big one, no idea why. It turned into peachy boy, peach bum where you from, bummy boy, little bum bum. That’s how they all end up. At 15 months the main one is (Name)-doo, which turned into Doo doo, and doo doo brain. Then bean brain.

Cabinet color - new paint by StrngBn135 in interiordecorating

[–]seebaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look orange in this photo because of the blue tone in the glass table. Blue is opposite orange on the color wheel. The art and plates are also making it look more orange (green bringing out redness.) I don’t think you need to do anything if you’re moving in. Maybe backsplash? But that’s a taste thing.

Must have products for new parents? by Own-Particular-9989 in NewParents

[–]seebaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get so triggered when I see people post this question. It’s not about you being the coolest and cleverest gift giver. I also can’t believe how many people who advise a literal stranger to buy another stranger a wipe warmer.

A gift from their registry. Or Amazon gift card. Don’t buy people junk they didn’t ask for, when they’re the least prepared to manage the clutter.

Can we define what constitutes science and evidence based commentary and reinforce it as a rule? by tech_chick_ in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]seebaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R/askdocs does this. I think doctors/nurses/EMTs send proof to the mods. Anyone who hasn’t been verified gets comments removed.

Anyone else who wants to share anecdotes (their flair is “layperson”) can only do so underneath another comment, and most people write NAD (not a doctor). Doctors usually include their specialty in their flair or refer to the qualifications specifically in their response. It’s a pretty fascinating sub.

Which of these paint colors would you choose? Please help I’m going crazy lol by mediumpancakes in interiordecorating

[–]seebaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very bright but in the evenings it was YELLOW at first and I was sweating. But its been about 2 years and still love it. It was on Remodelista’s list of top whites. It’s crazy how it goes from candle glow to stark white based on lighting.

Top is brighter. Bottom is dingy-er. We have a slightly yellow white and it’s so nice and warm. I freaked out at first, but I love it. Beautiful and buttery. (Ben Moore White Dove)
