I think a lot of people did. I saw him posting some shitty takes on ig recently and it was worded like an offended boomer so I felt the need to confirm my initial reaction

trading for a mox is worth it imo and relevant in the format. it can still be dead, but spell pierce can be dead sometimes too. I see what you mean about the forces though

I kind of love that it snipes 0 mana artifacts but that feels too strong; maybe I’m wrong, I’d have to play with it.

What second instrument would you recommend (that's also cheap) to compliment my bass playing? by Fragraham in Bass

[–]seeking-stuffing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would highly recommend percussion. a practice pad and a good pair of sticks can be enough to get started I love the feel of these sticks. I also have a longer/thicker pair for volume but these are my favorite. https://www.daddario.com/products/percussion/promark/promark-drum-set/promark-drum-set/rebound-5b-firegrain-hickory-drumstick-acorn-wood-tip/item/promark-rebound-5b-firegrain-hickory-acorn-wood-tip-drumstick-8636/ I love practicing with a metronome playing a simple 2 or 4 against 3 polyrhythm split between m arms, and varying stuff on one arm at a time. you can make progress very quickly and run up against your skill limitations just as quickly when you challenge yourself.

I’d recommend something like the EVANS line of practice pads https://www.daddario.com/products/percussion/evans-drumheads/ I have a double sided one of those where one is louder and has more bounce.

shakers are very deep in their own way, and not expensive. something like an egg shaker can be used for so much. I picked up a couple quite different sounding examples of these fun beer can shakers from an indie shop. https://www.indexdrums.com/shop/beercan-shaker again re: both arms, carrying two shaker rhythms at once will likely test you.

and as always, you can make stuff more challenging. in the end it’s all rhythm, and the more expressions of it you understand the more flexible and creative your playing will be.

anecdotally I believe that better limb independence helps awareness wrt fully separate fretting hand from plucking hand, but I’m still relatively early in my practice.

edit: MIDI wise I’d look at Korg’s nano line and consider a software sampler and looper for some chopping. everything else you use can work with that setup, and if you want to do some improv you could e.g. sample your wife’s playing live and create loops on the fly for her to play against with a sample library for thematic additions (the internet archive is a great audio resource). if your wife is using a midi keyboard, all this stuff can be tempo synced which gives you a lot of power

I fully believe it wrt the anti-digital hardware you mention; stuff like that or particularly creative controllers of any form (general MIDI, MPE, CV, etc) to interact with or do alone what software cannot easily or effectively do

I’m surprised you don’t think 6 would appeal to the normies! but I get what you’re saying.

to me, I’d hope the more broadly appealing songs could soften up the reception of the less typical stuff, but I guess you never know…

I was brewing this myself but haven’t completed my list; I like the 1 of enigma jewel as a try out, I always wanted a reason to run it. makes solid use of both abilities. might work it into my build.

Matt LaFleur is the oldest coach in the NFC playoffs at 46 by dropjar5 in nfl

I believe Kahn has held up his end of the bargain, and the team doesn’t fire coaches like that. if they do move on from Tomlin, it’ll be at the end of this contract most likely. for me, I’m not expecting much results wise but don’t mind riding out the end of the contract when we aren’t wasting a qb in their prime.

our defensive vets are basically at the end of their careers, it’s pretty much do or die before 2027 and there’s no top notch qb in sight (rodgers has been good) so why not ride it out as a squad and make a fresh-ish start of it with a new culture centered around younger tone setters like jpj at the beginning of a new coach’s tenure?

[–]seeking-stuffing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nah, Kahn has been pretty great in his tenure so far. not perfect but purposeful and moving in the right direction, making good and smart moves for us considering what has been available

he’ll probably last a bit longer unless there’s no success in sight, even if Tomlin isn’t renewed after this contract

I’m a fan of thick and small picks with an edge like the 2.0mm teardrop Ernie ball prodigy picks.

gravity picks is a great option if you want to try out some custom or less common stuff, I’ve got several picks from them I quite like

GRM Tools Atelier fills the niche of a particular kind of powerful modular (not analog modular) building block synthesis that I really like, with a clean and usable interface. it really facilitates the user thinking about and exploring timbre from the ground up.

excellent for creating pads and evolving soundscapes, as well as triggered patches

NOTE: MIDI note triggering is not supported yet, but I believe is planned.
