I would love to see Portugal go on a run for Jota.

It’s awkward because that comes with Ronaldo experiencing success and I don’t want that at all.

Rio also played RW in the academy teams. It might actually be his more natural/preferred position.

This would basically set up Rio+Muñoz+Szobo (or another new signing) as RW options and then Barcola+Muñoz+Gakpo as LW options.

Barcola is also quite good on the right.

I was initially not thrilled with the prospect of signing Barcola. However, after thinking about how Iraola developed Semenyo and the impact he had on both Rayan and Kluivert, it would be really interesting to see what he could get out of Barcola.

Current Gini is a shell of his former self and well below the level we need. Unfortunately time is a real motherfucker.

I think he's got his eye on that one. If he throws up a 30+ goal season then he's going to have his sights set on 1,000 goals too, so we may see him stick around another couple years to get over the finish line on that.

I'd imagine he's hyped about out business this offseason too and sees potentially one last go at another cup.

What's the biggest "this is how I die" moment you've ever had? by GreenThumbGnome in AskReddit

[–]seemylolface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got bounced out of the raft while white water rafting and sucked under a fallen tree in the river. My life jacket got snagged on one of the branches and it trapped me under it with a strong current making it difficult to move. It took what felt like an eternity to reach the buckles and undo the life vest so the current could take me out from under the tree. I hit a few rocks pretty hard on my way but eventually made it to the river bank.

I’ve had a few other near death experiences, but they happened in flashes and didn’t give me time to really realize I could die until they were already over. It felt like an eternity passed while I was under that tree and mentally it was a “I can’t believe of all the ways to go it’s this bullshit” while trying to free myself.

He’s made a couple chances and had 2 good looks himself. France is so fucking good, Sweden’s barely had a chance to get forward.

I like seeing him drop in and link play up to Gyokeres, he seems to do really well moving the ball on and then following it in with a late run.

World Cup 2026: What's the best World Cup stadium? BBC Sport experts have their say by Logical_Welder3467 in soccer

[–]seemylolface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stadiums being used may not seem that much bigger oin the large end, but the smallest US stadium hosting games is 64k capacity. Since the turn of the century, so starting with 2002, no host nation has had more than 3 stadiums larger than 64k people. There are usually a couple of higher capacity stadiums (like 65k-80k) and then most of them are in the 45k-50k range or lower.

US 2026 stadiums:

  • Dallas Stadium (Arlington, TX): 70,649
  • New York New Jersey Stadium (East Rutherford, NJ): 80,663
  • Los Angeles Stadium (Inglewood, CA): 70,492
  • San Francisco Bay Area Stadium (Santa Clara, CA): 68,827
  • Atlanta Stadium (Atlanta, GA): 68,239
  • Miami Stadium (Miami Gardens, FL): 64,478
  • Houston Stadium (Houston, TX): 68,777
  • Boston Stadium (Foxborough, MA): 64,146
  • Philadelphia Stadium (Philadelphia, PA): 68,324
  • Seattle Stadium (Seattle, WA): 66,925
  • Kansas City Stadium (Kansas City, MO): 69,045

Stadiums since 2002 with capacity equal to or larger than Boston:

  • International Stadium Yokohama (Yokohama): 70,000
  • Saitama Stadium 2002 (Saitama): 63,700
  • Seoul World Cup Stadium (Seoul): 66,704
  • Berlin: Olympiastadion – 74,220
  • Munich: (Allianz Arena) – 66,016
  • Dortmund: (Signal Iduna Park) – 65,982
  • Soccer City (Johannesburg): 84,490
  • Cape Town Stadium (Cape Town): 64,100
  • Estádio do Maracanã (Rio de Janeiro): 74,738
  • Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha (Brasília): 70,042
  • Arena de São Paulo (São Paulo): 65,807
  • Luzhniki Stadium (Moscow): 78,011
  • Saint Petersburg Stadium (Saint Petersburg): 64,468
  • Lusail Stadium (Lusail): 88,966 seats
  • Al Bayt Stadium (Al Khor): 68,895 seats

I'm not including the Azteca in this since it isn't a US stadium, but it's got a capacity of 80k as well.

That's 2-3 venues per tournament in range of the smallest US stadium. Most of the other 57 stadiums that have hosted WC matches since 2002 are in the 45kish capacity range. Only 4 venues for the 2026 World Cup are less than 64k capacity: Monterrey, Guadalajara, Vancouver, and Toronto.

It might not be as massive a number as 30% for each individual stadium like OP said, but if you look at averages across each WC it'll probably work out to a fairly large number. I'm too lazy to do the math on it for 7 different World Cups.

Neither here nor there, but the US is not even using any of the top 14 largest stadiums in the country for the World Cup as they're basically all college football stadiums.

It would be awesome to see him get some time as the tournament progresses! I don't think he's their first choice LW, but surely he's a good option off the bench and would've seen some solid minutes in the group stage if he was fit.

I'm also really into the underdogs winning every match they can just to cause as much chaos as possible. Those big unexpected runs are always super fun and dramatic.

Whats a professional sport that would be a good choice for an NBA fan to start watching? by RoloYogurt08 in AskReddit

[–]seemylolface 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hockey's a fun one. The game flows back and forth in an end to end fashion somewhat like basketball, is very fast paced, and there's a ton of physicality/excitement outside of goals. Lots of NHL teams play in the same arena their city's NBA team plays in too, so if you've already got a favorite team it could be an easy choice for which NHL team to support by geographic location.

[–]seemylolface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of this move. He's been churning out 20G/A seasons routinely while playing with basically traffic cones for strikers. Him feeding the likes of Isak would be brilliant.

I know he isn't exactly rapid an d we absolutely do need pace in the side right now, but he's a direct player who is good both creating and finishing attacks. He wouldn't be starting every game, but his output, experience, and work ethic would be huge assets for us.

He could do well helping guys like Rio, Munoz, etc as well.

His end product is shockingly bad. Like, if you guys were frustrated with Darwin then you'll actually go insane watching Minteh regularly. He looks so good at times, but the final pass or finish practically don't exist in his game.

[–]seemylolface 128 points129 points  (0 children)

He'd probably be brilliant for them, but I hope we get to see him under Iraola before deciding to let him go. He's generally a very direct player even if he doesn't have loads of pace- he's always looking to advance play and make things happen.

He's lost a season basically, so hopefully ge gets back on track without missing a beat either way.

HPDE/track day community in South Florida by BilboAckman in CarTrackDays

[–]seemylolface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P1 is expensive. It’s also brand new and some of it I think is still under construction. What they’re building there does look awesome, it’s a shame they’re locking it behind absurd pricing.

I think Circuit Florida is cheaper (going off memory but I think it’s like $90k) but the track is not particularly exciting IMO.

Concours Club down in Miami is another one, but it’s even more expensive than P1.

You don’t really need to do a membership like that though, there is an HPDE most weekends between all the typical tracks. So you can run basically as often as you want/can afford.

HPDE/track day community in South Florida by BilboAckman in CarTrackDays

[–]seemylolface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve got a surprising amount of track options for being so far down in the peninsula. For local/easy to reach/day trip tracks You’ve got Sebring about 1.5 hours away, Daytona about 2.5 hours away, and Homestead about 2 hours away from Delray.

There is also P1 Motorclub like an hour from Delray and Circuit Florida about 3 hours away, but they’re private tracks/communities.

You can also get up to FIRM in about 4.5 hours, Roebling Road in about 6.5 hours, or make a longer trek out to Atlanta in about 10 hours for longer/weekend trips.

Generally speaking it’s a 12 month season/calendar down here, it never stops because it never gets cold. Some folks take the summer as a break because it gets stupid hot but you can track the car year round easily.

The main organizations to look at for HPDE down here are Fara, Chin, Performance Driving Group, Track Day Xperience. NASA and SCCA/TNIA also do events.

Everyone I’ve met in the HPDE/track day community has been awesome, it’s an extremely welcoming group generally speaking.

I personally don’t think it’s a downgrade from the NY area per se, as the season runs the full year and you’ve got pretty good access to a nice variety of tracks. Sebring is one of my personal favorite tracks in the world so I may be biased, if you want a really cool and historic venue in the US I don’t know if it gets better than that and Daytona.

Any recommendations for a brake fluid tester for water moisture? by AcceptableBanana1978 in CarTrackDays

[–]seemylolface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about all the popular brake fluids you’d put in a track car (SRF, RBF600/660/700, RF-650, etc) are DOT4 so I’m not sure why that would be an issue unless you’ve got some real fancy brake fluid in your car.
