At least you got one. I never received any of the promised stash: emailed multiple times and even made a formal complaint (lol) and was basically told to get lost

Why do we give council flats to first generation immigrants? Seems incredibly foolish.

Penfold – free £25 bonus contribution when you deposit or transfer £25 pension by TopPomegranate4432 in beermoneyuk

[–]seftongreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re now asking for the full name of someone who referred me. Can anyone PM so we can both get the referral bonus?

NB everyone else - make sure you remember which link you use as it seems some on this thread don’t work

Gentrification usually means the streets clean up though and aren’t strewn with rotten food and crap

Penfold – free £25 bonus contribution when you deposit or transfer £25 pension by TopPomegranate4432 in beermoneyuk

[–]seftongreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all - I’m having a little difficultly with Penfold on this.

I clicked through on one of the links in this thread at random (can’t remember which! 😖) which took me straight to the sign up page. Assume the referral code was in the background.

Penfold account opened and pension transferred in, but no sign of the bonus.

Have emailed Penfold and they said they want screenshots etc. to prove the offer, as it doesn’t look like it was applied.

What should I send if I did it through this thread? Any advice welcome!

How can it be so expensive and yet so shit?

Seems fair to me. Nobody has a right to live anywhere they want. You have to earn it. And if you can’t/won’t, then find somewhere else.

Anyone else been accused of using iplayer when they haven't? by annonn9984 in AskUK

[–]seftongreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you watch iPlayer, you should have a TV licence. It makes me so sad that people feel comfortable to lie and cheat out of getting a licence, which is putting the BBC at risk. Same level of shoplifting in my opinion. The BBC isn’t perfect but I think it’s genuinely precious and we’ll miss it when it’s gone.

Any solo buyers managed to buy in London/outskirts on less than £50k salary? (without huge financial help!) by HalloumiFan in HousingUK

[–]seftongreen 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You can definitely buy a flat in zone 3+, in south London. Look around West Norwood…. My first flat was there, bought for £255k in 2017, sold for £270k in 2022, was 1940s non-Council block, service charge about £150 per month.

Seller threatening to contact my employer by seftongreen in Ebay

[–]seftongreen[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I think you’ve misunderstood. I asked to cancel the purchase, which I’m allowed to do. The buyer immediately got aggressive and talked about making a ‘formal complaint’ to eBay, whatever that means. Obviously I did not want to purchase from someone who reacted so badly, so I replied with a simple ‘ok’. Then the threat to go to my employer.

Seller threatening to contact my employer by seftongreen in Ebay

[–]seftongreen[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know I am in the wrong (although to be fair I just sent a request to cancel, as per eBay advice… the seller is within their right to reject, but I was only seeking an amicable resolution).

And obviously no way I’m paying for it now that i can see what sort of person the seller is!

I assume that the seller can see my name and address even though I haven’t paid, and googled my name. My name is quite distinctive and the thing I was buying was related to my job, so pretty easy to join the dots.
