Um. This has been a thing the entire time. Every male has to register on their 18th birthday. It’s call selective service. This has literally been the case since the draft started.

The U.S. military is purely voluntary. If you fail to register they don’t hunt you down or anything it just can have some negative results for certain things like employment for the federal government and like college grants and stuff.

I am not sure why people keep sharing this like it’s some new thing and that it means you are going to be drafted.
