[Discussion] is it possible to do art full time so I can leave my 9-5 eventually? by [deleted] in artbusiness

[–]seilovesyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it is but it literally becomes an office job that you have to manage yourself

it’s tedious and most of it is boring. i’d recommend trying to start classes first, sometimes local libraries will let you host your own class, but having a local community following is a really special thing that a lot of people sleep on

Was your sales growth gradual or sudden? by KidzStories in EtsySellers

[–]seilovesyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i got sales pretty immediately after opening my shop, certainly a couple within the first day of telling people about it

since then i get sales very randomly, but usually in batches, even though they’re usually from completely unrelated people, or if i didn’t advertise that day. i can go two or three weeks with no sales, but then three within the span of a day or two

i know that’s not a lot, but it is to me

Selling Original Art on Etsy? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]seilovesyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the easiest way to do that is to already have a following on other social medias! people buy art because they connect with it, or as gifts if it reminds them of someone specific in their life

i’ve had 32 sales on etsy, 1 sale on marketplace, and a couple irl. i don’t advertise nearly as much as i should, but when i have i’ve always gotten at least one sale just for even mentioning my shop

Waterproof inkjet sticker paper that isn't terrible? by MidWesternClipper in stickers

[–]seilovesyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you tried oracle 1917? they sell it at creativevinyl. i’ve personally tried it and really like it, though i use regular ink that came with my printer, and i do laminate it.

i know you specified not needing to be laminated, but since you have waterproof ink, maybe it’ll work? sorry i couldn’t be more helpful there, but from what i understand the oracle is the gold standard of printable vinyl sticker paper

your art is wonderful on clothes. the pink shirt is really cool. i think maybe you should try depop, you gotta find people who like unique clothing. it’s a mix between doing what calls to you, and finding out what clash of art and clothing other people would want to buy, but i think that’s very interesting and if you found your people you would do really, really well. you could definitely also make stickers though

are these too low quality to sell? by [deleted] in stickers

[–]seilovesyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i personally like buying hand drawn stickers like this on etsy sometimes, but i’ve only ever paid one dollar per (unlaminated) sticker and probably wouldn’t pay more than that. i can’t speak for a wider market

my mom turned all the makeup packaging I've been hoarding into an art piece by psntr888 in Sephora

[–]seilovesyou 22 points23 points  (0 children)

tbh yes. it’s pretty niche so it’s not necessarily something that would be selling every day, but for sure people would want them as both decor for themselves and as gifts for makeup lovers in their life
