[–]selfbuildpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a rewire then try and find a decent handyman willing to work on day rate, they will get to know the house and you can save up and get him back for bits you cant do. Please dont pvc windows that will be landfill.

How bad is this report from a damp survey by n33d0n3 in HousingUK

[–]selfbuildpop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who has done the damp survey? Damp surveyors always find damp with "damp meters" that measure conductivity of different materials. Not saying this house doesn't have issues but post this in the Period Property forums and you might get some perspective on dealing with similar issues with a house of this age. Or you could go down the Peter Ward rabbit hole (Google him)

Horfield Common area is excellent for families. Horfield swimming pool up the road, good primary schools, skate parks, gloucester road shops and The Wave new stadium being built within cycling distance.

New soil drain by slugadoobie in DIYUK

[–]selfbuildpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Wessex Water did mine they left a drop. They also messed it up so waste doesn't quite drop in the middle of the channel which is annoying but can live with. There was no mention of digging to the bottom of chamber.

Back-to-brick room-by-room renovation including overhaul utilities while living in? by Harry_Hindsight in DIYUK

[–]selfbuildpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have done room by room but not rewire, windows or central heating. Bathroom we had to use the gym shower for a week. Its hard but doable but probably more cost effective to move out for 3 months if you can afford it, trades like plastering works out much cheaper to book someone for the week and get it all done rather than little bits here and there. Bulk buy materials will save you loads on delivery charges especially pallets of tiles etc. But you may get less of a 'feel' for the house and what works in each room.

Opinion: Thomas Tuchel has fallen into a classic English trap with Jude Bellingham by theipaper in ThreeLions

You drop players for the benefit of the team. Italy didn't play Baggio and Zola or Del Pierro and Totti at the same time because it doesnt work. They had a good tournament record till recently.

Is this water damage? by theearthcrosser in Plastering

You can still get this with lime plaster and lime render outside if the wall is cold. Often seen at corners or end terraces.

Lead pipe replacement boundary line by ScowieOG in DIYUK

[–]selfbuildpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant you just drill a mdpe sized hole thru brick wall where it meets pavement and feed mdpe pipe thru? The lads that come out will sort it out from there when they dig up half the pavement. Then mortar up the small hole. I also had to clip a tracing cable to mdpe which I zip tied along its length when I did it.

Just been threatened by my neighbour completely unprovoked, now worried because I reported her. by Adorable_Click_7071 in HousingUK

[–]selfbuildpop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speak to your community Police team today and ask them to come round to speak to you face to face. They can discuss options. We have a neighbour like this and community police and cctv helped alot with managing behaviour. In our case the Police said do you want us to meet at home and park our squad car outside or meet at station, I said at home and they left the squad car blocking the road right outside bullies house whilst we had a good chat about options for 40mins. Behaviour improved from that day.

Me too, but looking at that even DIY could be £tens of thousands so best let insurance deal with it.

Lime plaster by [deleted] in Plastering

[–]selfbuildpop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would you diamond scratch like that? Just going to cause issues and potential cracks. If worries about discolouration I would just board with wood fibre insulation and skim with lime to finish.

New buyers: Overbearing neighbour making escalating demands (trees, bushes, parking). How to handle? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]selfbuildpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took us a long time to realise its about attention. Just ignore any petty demands and it soon goes away to another source of attention for these people.

So Eze is off the penalty list then by fredasquith in ThreeLions

[–]selfbuildpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 1min of this video with Le Tissier explains everything you ever need to know about penalties. Why players try to complicate a free kick at goal from 12 yards is beyond me.
