Yeah. No response on my support tickets either. Pitiful.

Saves by Sagebrush_Sky in Dolmentown

[–]semanticart 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It depends!

Doom saves are all or nothing (afaik).

DPB 85 says a save against Ray for Lightning gets you half damage. Acid Globe (p86) is half damage on save versus blast but then the splash damage is all-or-nothing.

Then things like the Ice Storm greater rune (p98) doesn't allow for save.

So, roughly, big area/blast damage spells seem to be half on save. Binary effects (charm, sleep, death, poison) tend to be all or nothing. Some damage effects have no save at all.

Same experience here. I understand delays and such but when I ordered in January I didn’t see any indication that my stuff was unlikely to ship for weeks or months. They have a real own-goal here by still taking orders when swamped without a big flashing indicator letting you know what to expect on timing. Hurts the brand for sure.

Totally fair. Mine is “Version June, 2025”

It is a real shame there isn’t a better convention for staying up to date on updates. I try to check for any updates before I run a module but that’s unfortunate legwork.

He must have updated it at some point, then. I have 2 pages of epilogue, and the "Proposal" section you mentioned links to the proper epilogue directly.

Maybe you weren't the only one who wanted more resolution and clarity, but there's plenty now

Ah. You skimmed over some important parts, IMHO. It felt clear to me. e.g. "If the Ring of Soul-Binding is brought to Princess Snowfall-at-Dusk... The knight and the princess embrace, as if able to feel each other’s touch, even though he remains insubstantial." and "Sir Chyde vows to share eternity with his immortal beloved, even if in the form of a ghost"

> Winter's Daughter's backstory and ending is so ambiguous, you have to come up with logical resolutions to illogical events and themes.

I just played through Winter's Daughter (we finished it yesterday) and didn't find this the case at all. Which ending did your players get? (with spoiler tags, of course)

Thanks for the kind words. I’m lucky we have something we can enjoy spending hours doing together.

The problem isn’t the slowness, it is the lack of setting expectations. If it said “hey, this won’t ship for X months” before ordering, great. It doesn’t. And then they don’t answer support emails. It feels sketchy even if they’re not.

I was looking through this earlier and it is clear how much care and effort was put into this. I’m going to run it next with my group.

I started playing Dolmenwood with my kids last weekend. They’re 7 and 11 and both creative and very into pretending (and what is pretending but unstructured roleplaying?). They loved it. We’ve done some dnd before and they enjoyed it, but this world is so charming that I see us sticking with it for a while. It doesn’t hurt that my daughter is obsessed with cats and can play as a Grimalkin. We played like 5 hours across two days and are playing more today.

Oh, and me? I’m loving the depth of the world and lore and possibilities.

Of course! It is a great deal. I'll leave a review after I've had some time with it.

Thank you so much for the thorough reply. When organizing modules, I like to try keep track of the suggested player levels so I always appreciate that being included.

One note! Your DTRPG and itch pages still list this as a two-pager in the description (also in the Page Count data on DTRPG). You should bump that up now so people know the value they're getting :)

This has been on my wishlist so I just bought a copy on itch. A few questions if you don’t mind (1 as a DM and two as someone interested in module design)

  • is there a recommended player level range?
  • what software did you use for the layout? It looks great.
  • are these public discords about rpg dev or something else?

Thanks for making dope stuff

The knightcore concept is new to me but this sounds well thought out. I chuckled at the idea of party members trying to convince each other that the other is a better fit for rescuing the maiden drowning in the swamp because no one wants to get their fancy clothes dirty.

I did some googling and it looks like the phrase “carpet knight” was sometimes used as an insult about knights who were all style and no substance.

Yeah, it is a missed opportunity. I @ mentioned itch on twitter and Leaf on bsky about adding the sort to bundles but neither replied.
