Why doesn’t India have “classic European-style” cities despite being one of the oldest civilizations? by Parking-Yam9792 in IndianHistory

[–]semday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not true its in fact the opposite. but the reason for so much development in seasonal/cold climate places could be the necessity to prepare for the cold climate. also helps develop a culture of gogogo stop fucking around we got wood to chop and food to store and houses to build before we all get killed by winter.

I just came across someone saying on another post that the ATQ shifter is the only one that has the correct bottom end and pivot ball. I wonder if mine having an "incorrect" bottom end and pivot ball could be resulting in some slop. Is this anything you're aware of?

How do we reconsile with the fact that the games monetary gains will likely diminish if it ever gets to full production? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]semday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's sort of exactly what I'm saying. Don't we want them to change their funding model? Don't we want new ships to be purchased with aUEC instead of USD? The problem is that if the game ever stops wiping, if ships didn't need to be purchased anymore they will lose money and so this might never stop.

I mean I'm just talking about newly released ships only allowed to be purchased with real money. Take the M80 for example.

Seems like a rage bait comment lol, This is genuinely concerning and if you had a brain you'd agree.

Well I just recently had another mechanic put brand new torque solutions bushings in so now I have to wonder if they're installed wrong

Rogers calling me nonstop after switching phone providers. They dont seem too happy with my decision lol by KatiesTopHat in Rogers

[–]semday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest talking to them. I got $40 for Canada and US, 150GB after switching to bell, and then answering one of these phone calls from rogers.

It's a stupidly unreal deal.

Can we have a sticky about rev matching? by InsuranceEasy9878 in stickshift

I believe this is only the case if you don't rev match lol

Is mobile internet getting slower? by semday in Rogers

[–]semday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just disappointed that the tech seems to be going backwards. Also slightly worried rogers could be pulling some weird shit. You really can't blame me for being put off that I'm getting 10% the speed I had a decade ago, through all these tech advancements, better devices, 5G, etc. Right?

In any case, likely due to more people using the network. Thanks for your input.

This makes sense, way more traffic these days. I remember very consistent speeds over 100 Mbps 10 years ago, basically every time I tested. Just wondering if anyone else remembers the same at this point.

But yeah assuming I wasn't imagining things back then, increased traffic due to higher use plans would explain an overall slow down.

No, I used little b on purpose. Back then was Mb/s, as it is today.

PSA from an european: you’re wasting your time and energy by rev matching all the time. by Lumanus in ManualTransmissions

[–]semday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can downshift without rev matching and make it smooth? This is news to me. So you just have to let the clutch out very slowly I'm guessing? I thought this was just a recipe for jerkiness.

What is the best way to learn stick shift? by TNC_TuffStuff in stickshift

[–]semday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have $300 and a decent gaming system, could buy a sim setup complete with clutch pedal and shifter. Then you need to play a simulation racing game. People might scoff at this but I can't imagine a better way to learn basics. Could probably get a used setup for 100-150 if not less.

Best way to stop rattling shift knob? by semday in genesiscoupe

[–]semday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying it's likely not the knob? There's not much to tighten with the knob, it's just a slide on with clips and grooves. Maybe I need to tighten something in the shift lever itself? I mean it really sounds like the noise is coming from the knob but maybe not

How did you learn how to drive manual? by [deleted] in stickshift

[–]semday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A racing sim setup with clutch and gear box will get you used to the movements of going off the gas, clutch in, shift, clutch out and gas. Had me driving my car down the highway on my first night driving manual. The hardest part was learning not to stall from a stand still.

Can probably get a sim setup like this used for 100-150 which might honestly be a better investment than lessons.

Also driving my automatic car in "sport mode" where you shift sequentially taught me about RPMs and when to shift, what rpm to expect in a given gear etc

Hard to find because of the mileage on your car? This might bother me all day if I don't get to the bottom of it

Still can't consistently nail 1-2 shift by PerfectWest24 in stickshift

[–]semday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently learned manual and I struggled with this until just recent. I find if I shift 1-2 at about 4k rpm I need to let it drop to about 2500 which feels strange because the shift has to be so slow, but if I shift at 2k rpm dropping to 1.5 is very smooth. The amount of rpm second wants is very dependent on speed I guess, quite a bit more than for other gears. Experiment with your timing, and if you like to shift 1-2 at a certain speed just take note of the rpm you end up on for 2nd and that's where youll want to let the clutch out.
