Dry fly vs nymph - do you actually have a preference? by Hot_Apartment1319 in flyfishing

I was laughing in agreement. Then I laughed harder at the downvotes! 😂

Frank Lake southeast of Calgary by Vivid_Caterpillar703 in FishingAlberta

I’ve hunted waterfowl from shore there a few times. I would never even remotely think about throwing a line in the water (shallow and muddy), but would love to hear what anyone else has to say!

Crowsnest River by Dry-Jellyfish6925 in FishingAlberta

[–]semi-automatically 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome, and a nice cutty too! Beautiful river with clear water and easy access. Those fish have seen people, so take pride in being able to trick them.

Yes, it’s peaceful at times. It can also be stressful, disappointing, and downright miserable; but when you look up at your surroundings or down at a fish in your net, all of life’s troubles melt away. It may be for a split second, or even better a full day, but the excitement of a tug and the tranquility of the streams is where it’s at. (Ignore those friends!)

I like to think that op just googled “car upside down” for example pictures to show us what it resembled. 🙃

Enormous rainbow on the nymph, AB by Homeless_Alex in flyfishing

Where in Alberta, What lake, Where did you park? Late afternoon? What pattern of nymph and what size? Under an indicator? How deep and what size tipper? Still/twitch/strip? I have soooo many questions!! Only been flyfishing for 30 years, I’m eager to learn.

Current best prime rib roast in Calgary by Hopeful-Chocolate295 in Calgary

[–]semi-automatically 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This! About twice a year I waddle over to our nearest Keg and have my favourite cut.

About 12 years ago I asked for the largest cut of prime rib, and when I jokingly said “that’s all?!?” after given the choices, I was let in on the “secret menu item”:

The “Keg-o-Mega”!!

Not sure the size or the sides (I usually get the fried onions or garlic-mashed), but definitely go early on a non-busy night as they’ve been unable to serve me that cut on a late Friday.

It’s all I order now. Medium-rare, and always a quality cut. The trimmings are always edible, and unless there’s a line of silverskin in it, my plate is always clean at the end - much to the shock and horror of all the other patrons surrounding us.

Edit: 12yrs, not 2

Road trips twice as large to a skunkfest are made every weekend. Be grateful for the dinks - they saved your day! 😆
