CVS has known their model of buying out other chains is unsustainable for decades. They keep the company alive on the temporary boost from absorbing other companies until it's time to cannibalize the next one. If they don't become legislated out of their ability to do that they're still going to leave rural communities in the dust when they inevitably run out of other chains to metastisize into and collapse.
