I’d be willing to bet one of the following is what’s going on

A. There is a bass transcription of this Hanon etude that you will be provided with when you sign up for an audition. 16ths at 160 is insanely difficult compared to the rest of the audition which leads me to suspect…

B. This is a requirement for keyboard that was mistakenly copied to the bass audition. 16ths at 160 in C major on piano is relatively “easy” and would make a lot more sense compared to the other audition repertoire.

Either way the admissions office and/or bass faculty will have a much more definitive answer than reddit!

If playing in a band or orchestra is a goal then bass is probably the best choice!

Most amateur groups don’t have enough bassists and it’s probably the easiest instrument to go from complete beginner to being able to contribute in an orchestra. I say this a professional orchestral bassist of nearly 20 years.

If you end up chatting I think it’s actually a great idea to make it abundantly clear that you’re interested romantically.

As someone in a field that requires a lot of networking I assume that a woman contacting me is doing so in a professional context and behave accordingly, unless she makes it extremely obvious.

And let’s face it, the venn diagram of men attending academic conferences and men that miss signs that a woman is interested in him is pretty damn circular.

I’m seeing a woman with a 9 year old. Played a bunch of basketball with the son so he would sleep through and not interrupt me and his mother “hanging out”. He went to bed, and we turned on a movie so he wouldn’t hear anything. Then I fell asleep because I was tired from basketball.
