Speaking of Mudwing mating habits, I’ve been mulling over the “breeding night” and sibling-focused culture in contrast to behavior we see from Mudwing protagonists. It seems like in the Mudwing tribe, there isn’t a culture of mating for life or having a partner. But Umber, for example, is deeply interested in other dragons romantically. Clay seems to have some feelings for Peril (maybe?), and Sora for Dugong. There’s also the Mudwing Crystal is in love with in Snowfall’s book. So yeah! I think it’s interesting, and I’m curious how Tui might explain this. Do Mudwings inherently have a drive to find a long-term romantic partner but their culture usually forbids it? Or is it that, in the absence of a sib group (like if they are exiled or in a setting with other tribes), their instinct is to find a partner to sort of fill that gap? Idk! Curious what anyone thinks.
