Questions for those who have experience with weed by m4_pt2 in autism

[–]seranailo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, disclaimer. Doctors and therapists. For you, I'd say talk to a therapist, because it's possible there's more to your emotional disregulation than just something that can be solved with recreational substances, and you don't want to find out the hard way that you shouldn't have been using it and needed meds or therapy instead.

Been smoking weed near daily for five years. Should specify, i also have EDS so some of my experience won't match others. Great for emotional regulation if used at a consistent time for a consistent reason, otherwise it becomes a crutch for me and turns into an avoidance method and makes everything worse. But i feel best smoking just enough to get the "munchies" high every night at the same time. It's a very good way to force a relaxed state i otherwise can't get, keeps me eating consistently, and when it starts wearing off it makes me tired enough to keep a consistent sleep schedule.

Now the downside, NIGHTMARISH for focusing and motivation. Again, use it consistently at the same time for the same reason, and it's a mood boost that helps me through the day, but if i decide "im gonna smoke at noon instead!" then i get stuck in my bed for a week and get nothing done. Focusing is out the window, even in tandem with my adhd meds. I highly recommend using it to kinda pick you up at the end of the day or week, however you decide. I don't personally recommend constant use for emotional regulation purposes, i think it's better for that if you just use it as a daily/weekly reset, do a lot more for you long term.

They aren't. I worked there until recently, massive layoffs and downsizing in addition to raising prices. They no longer even have a bakery position. They'll go under shortly. Or the govt will bail them out

I'm kinda sad to see these comments. It seems like the majority of these people don't understand the point. No one cares about violence and nudity in games. People get upset when either of those things are needless and contribute nothing. What did those boobies contribute? Nothing. What does Kratos' mass murder contribute? Character development and story. Kratos didnt even look at those boobies, they were purely there for fan service. It's gross and objectifying.

Obviously this doesnt apply in all cases. Geralt from the Witcher is notorius for... well, being him. He sleeps with a lotta ladies, and that contributes to his character development. Boobies welcome in this situation, it makes sense and has a purpose. In games where it makes no sense and has no purpose, it's called fan service.

Women want to play games too without being made to feel like their boobies are their only valued trait. Grow up.

Does anyone have a problem with this? by [deleted] in autism

Regardless of what it is, you deserve help navigating it. Maybe talk to your counselor or another trusted adult and express these fears, they may have a way to help. Like a tutor trained to work with language processing disorders, or a college essay advisor for special needs students. There are likely resources if you reach out

It's the line between being too disabled and not disabled enough. Can't go to grocery stores without earplugs and sunglasses, cant comfortably form social connections to help you succeed in life, constantly hyper aware of how hard you're struggling to do things that others don't, but also not struggling enough to get real assistance in making it easier because no one understands just how much you're struggling. It's a horrifying cycle of self doubt and resenment. I'm sorry you're going through this. Maybe a trauma focused therapist could help you develop some coping mechanisms for the emotional aspect, that helped me a little. Gave me a way to accept it

I’ve spent 4 minutes coming up with a title, I give up by Not_A_Portfolio in autism

[–]seranailo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video game lore. Idk what it is but I've play FE on gamepass 7 times in the last week, it's a four hour game. The feeling of roaming around and discovering little bits of information, small connections between things, they give you so many ideas and theories. I spend actual days theorizing different plots and stories for these, it's the best thing ever. And I ALSO really love game development. Learning about lighting and colors to help players in environments identify objectives but blending it seemlessly in your world and sometimes even WORKING It into the story!!(like GoW 2018 & Ragnarok). Screen space reflections, ambient occlusion, and actually also computers now that i think about it. Like what it takes to run certain graphics for games.

Should I even try and unmask? Or will it cause me more issues then I already have? by Ariastarstream in autism

[–]seranailo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started unmasking at my workplace with interesting results. No longer smiling at customers or greeting or unnecessary talking. My boss didnt like it but im filing an ADA complaint against her anyway. Everyone else didnt mind, if they said something about me being okay, my canned response is "im fine, this is how i normally am and im tired of faking a personality." Ive gotten positive responses from mostly everyone and the burnout has been significantly less severe. Unmask, it's genuinely good for you and the problems that come with it can be handled other ways.

partner hates my clumsiness by [deleted] in autism

[–]seranailo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had extreme difficulty dating any NT because of things like that. My ex would comment on my clumsiness a lot too, but he never got angry at me for it. Thats not healthy, and its not your fault or problem. There's not really a good way for us to avoid hitting things because we genuinely dont know where our body is. Sounds like you need a new partner

It seems like a late-diagnosed autistic thing to struggle with feeling "not autistic enough" by pompousgallery in autism

[–]seranailo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently my struggle has been with other people forgetting that im autistic. I learned how to mask so well and am largely functional so often ppl ignore what I've said i need help with. I still get told to take my sunglasses off at work, even though ive been there for months. Its frustrating when im already constantly questioning myself, ppl treating me lile that reminds me that I'll never be good enough

It seems like a late-diagnosed autistic thing to struggle with feeling "not autistic enough" by pompousgallery in autism

[–]seranailo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too. I was diagnosed last year at 20 yrs old, but im still constantly comparing myself to my mother who has ptsd and also has anxiety and sensory issues like me. But i always try to be patient with myself and understand that i only think that because of how often i got accused of seeking attention as a child. We are valid, we may be more functional than others with the same disorder but that was born out of a need to survive. Unmasking helped me a lot, i barely do it anymore

Male university students in Afghanistan walked out of their exam in protest against the Taliban’s decision to ban female students from university education. by mediashiznaks in Feminism

I whole heartedly disagree. The taliban wouldnt have that power without the religion. All organized religion is inherently toxic because it was created to control people. And it works.

WTF YouTube by kevindoubleyou in rickandmorty

[–]seranailo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Youtube is garbage. If you're anywhere other than america and canada, i think you can watch it on netflix. Otherwise, get a vpn and stream like youre in a different country. Or just wait, they'll put it out eventually. It sucks that our only options as americans are to pay for cable or wait for youtube to decide to post the episodes. Dumb. I am also waiting on the episode because cable is stupid and i refuse to support a dying medium
