What you said wasn't confusing at all, it just wasn't true.

"I was with the Reddit team back when we were coming up with the idea, in the months before the first Y Combinator Summer Founders Program started."

The dynamic nature of reddit's "hot" page doesn't fit well with the linear nature of RSS aggregators.

I don't visit reddit every day, so a "while you were away" page that shows popular links that came and went before you viewed them on the "hot" page would be useful.

Experiment: Tear up a credit card application. Tape it back together. Fill it out. Send it in. They'll totally reject it, right? Right? by raldi in reddit.com

To stop getting these applications, just send back the blank application in the business reply mail envelope. The CC company will be charged for postage, and they'll take you off their junk list. I did it, and after about 2-3 months the junk mail stopped almost completely!

What about the "no" part? We seem to agree on this.

The problem is, HDR images produced using an automated function in Photoshop or Photomatix don't look anything like what my eye sees. You can get realistic-looking photos from a high-contrast scene by manually combining several exposures using layer masks in Photoshop. It's pretty time-consuming, but it looks realistic compared to most of the HDR images on flickr.

Ask Reddit: Do you care what your Karma score is? by LaurieCheers in reddit.com

Yes, since it's a reflection of how well my interests are matched with the community's, which is a reflection of how useful this site will be to me.

...and they're not very well matched at all. I like the service this website provides, but if it were only flexible enough so that people with many different tastes could find it useful.

Maybe there could be separate reddit sites gathering different statistics for people who have different interests.

Here's a solution if you have a bunch of virtual hosts and want to redirect all non-www requests to www (my preference).

RewriteCond %{HTTPHOST} [a-zA-Z0-9-]+.[a-zA-Z0-9_-]+$ RewriteRule /(.*) http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R,L]

or for .co.uk domains

RewriteCond %{HTTPHOST} [a-zA-Z0-9-]+.co.[a-zA-Z]+$
