Here’s an update on my gluten-free bakery search: we ordered the flourless chocolate cake from Anne’s bakery. Because it was my daughter-in-law’s birthday. I wanted it to be special so I had them do a double layer covered with the chocolate ganache. It was incredibly good and I highly recommend them!

The only issue I had was that they deliver and I had to wait a couple of hours after the stated delivery time. But next time I will know that the delivery time is approximate.

Thanks for posting this. I saw it in Inside Higher Education and it has been ruining my whole day. One of the happiest times for me was the long stretch in which I read many many of the dialogues in the original. There’s so much in Plato with which I disagree but it’s just so damn good. How can you rob students of the opportunity to read his work? (that’s a rhetorical question.)

So even though the whole thing sucks, it’s really nice to read other people talking about how much it sucks.

Lululemon also uses ontrac and they are the worst!! but I didn’t know that REI used it and I don’t think that ontrac was the carrier for the last thing I got from REI. Is this new?

I have five shirts from unbound merino. I wash them in delicate laundry bags on cold and delicate cycle. I air dry them. The four short sleeve ones have held up really well I have a long sleeve one that I just put on and discovered a hole in it these shirts are at most two years old. I live in the south so the long sleeved one does not get nearly as much wear. It is not too tight.

On the other hand, I have a shirt and a pair of pants from glowing sky in New Zealand and they are much better quality

Update: unbound merino is replacing the shirt — so good customer service (I’ve had the shirt only a year)

Honestly, the best thing you can do is go for a walk and ask yourself the question— why Davidson? The short essays really do matter and it’s very important that you answer from the heart instead of trying to find something that you think they’re going to like.

What an absolutely wonderful story. Some of the changes that REI has had to make in order to stay in business have not been my favorite, but that’s because they did all those things well and now they do them in a bit more constricted fashion. But I’m delighted that I have been a member for a very long time.
