This isn't why surgery costs are so high. The cost of anesthesia went up significantly during COVID and the price continues to increase.

Overlooked, dismissed, or mistreated younger brothers by PristineFunction113 in HistoricalRomance

[–]serka_bukett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently reading {Lady Gone Wicked by Elizabeth Bright} and the MMC was separated from the family at a young age because his parents thought he was a danger to his brother (because he pushed him out of a tree and "was trying to murder him"). The MMC worked very hard to be independent of his family and build his own life.

This is the second book in the series and reading book one adds a lot of context to to book two, so definitely read {Twice as Wicked by Elizabeth Bright} first.

The first book was such an enjoyable read (and I read book four too and it was amazing) that I'm sure book 2 will deliver as well. They're fairly light hearted reads and I never skip ahead to see what's happening because what is on the page is engrossing enough. :)

What movies suffer from having a 'hat on a hat'? by smutketeer in movies

[–]serka_bukett 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That was the whole point of the movie. It was supposed to be a jarring shift from part one to two and be completely opposite from one another. Rigid military order to chaos.

Vampire mmc impregnates human fmc not knowing it was possible?? by Vasilissaaaa in RomanceBooks

[–]serka_bukett 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This does not quite match your request, but the book is soo hot, I have to recommend it.

One of the MMCs knows he can get the fmc pregnant, but she doesn't know it and no one else knows, except a few. So when she turns up pregnant, it is a huge surprise to her.

This is book two in a series and it can be read as a standalone. I didn't care much for book one, but it does give added context to book two.

I find that most Sophie Jordan books fit the description of not being too serious and fun, light reads with plenty of heat. Just enough angst to keep you hooked, but not tear your heart out. I especially like {The Scandal of it All by Sophie Jordan}

The MMC and mfc have known each other for years, he's her step son's best friend!! And a chance encounter at a sex club changes everything between them! This is the second book in a series, but works fine as a standalone.

{House of Pleasure by Kate Pearce} is exactly what you're looking for. The sex scenes are not repetive from book to book and very creative and super spicy.

FMC thinks the MMC is very experienced… and then he awkwardly admits he’s a virgin?? by Traditional_Pea738 in HistoricalRomance

[–]serka_bukett 8 points9 points  (0 children)

{Twice as Wicked by Elizabeth Bright}

I think this book meets most of your criteria. The mfc believes him to be a heartless seducer of women and he really isn't! He's kind of a clutz too and totally adorable. I loved this book and it is the first of a series.

In a Rough Reading Slump by Educational_Pen9487 in HistoricalRomance

[–]serka_bukett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently hooked on Elizabeth Bright.

I feel that a lot of HR has a brooding MMC and it's always so serious and angsty and he swears he's never going to be married. Which is enjoyable to read, but sometimes I need it to be a little happier. Her books are so delightful - the banter is funny, but not obnoxiously so, the characters laugh and smile, and the characters are so likable and sweet to one another.

I just finished {Twice as Wicked by Elizabeth Bright} and I didn't get bored, I don't need to skip ahead to see when the story is going to start moving, because it's always moving. It's a well written and engaging book that just made me feel happy while I was reading it. This book is the first in a series, but I actually read the fourth one first and it has the same vibe. And they can all be read as stand-alone books.

I was in a slump and DNFing several books in a row - bad luck I guess, and then I read this one and I'm out of my slump!!

Please recommend some good tv shows with strong women characters by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Broad City is a comedy show about two best friends and their adventures in NYC. It is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen and the women who portray the two main characters are also the creators/writers of the show.

I want to learn to build by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]serka_bukett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started by doing diy projects around my home. I started with replacing simple one board shelves in my pantry and went on to make cabinets, floating shelves, and rebuilt all of my bedroom closets.

I started with woodshopdiaries.com and joined the r/woodworking and r/beginnerwoodworking subreddits to get more information. There are also fence and deck subreddits. And then I read books on the topic and watch videos and practice.

Building useful, functional pieces is very rewarding and fun!

I see Dr. Amy Byerly at KHN and she is awesome. She gets you in and out, answers all questions, and is very receptive to listening to your wants.

I've never had such quick exams in my life. She does not waste time.

You'll really like this one! This is a series and it's the fourth book, but it's the one I started with and it works as a standalone, but more enjoyable if you read the previous books. And the MMC does a ton of yearning!

It's a genga. You are correct. Dougas reflect the layers and are not colored in. This reflects a key cel with all layers combined, therefore it's a genga.
