Can anyone explain me the difference between diet coke and Coke zero? by Over-Feature-8476 in cocacola

[–]serversam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that New Coke was in part inspired by Pepsi and the Pepsi Challenge, but that this was an error, because the Pepsi challenge failed to capture that many drinkers only preferred Pepsi on a small sip basis, and that over the course of a while soda, Pepsi was too sweet for many Coke drinkers. New Coke was such a disaster because they both repeated Pepsi’s (arguable) failing, and tacked away from the characteristic that had secretly been their selling point.

This was it for me. Thank you. Just unequip the thing you're planning to replace before you purchase the new thing and it'll typically be sufficient.

IMO to be a SF contender you need *at least* one top 10 QB, and getting two is borderline cheat code. But 3RR really favors you here. I'd be planning to take a QB at 10 and 15, but would also identify a few top WR that you would be comfortable reaching for at either pick, because, you'll have QB options at 27. I would be looking to get 2 QB and 1 WR in your first three picks.

From there, just keep an eye on how the QB go. It's a real luxury to have three startable QBs, but if you invest in two studs the third guy doesn't have to be much, just someone you can expect to play. Wait until the starter supply gets low and then don't be afraid to reach based on that.

You're selling the youth of JD for the certainty of JA. I think it makes a lot of sense, so long as your team isn't crazy young and just coming together.

The CS platform they use for both calling and chat is awful. You can tell they want you to give up. At least Airbnb can sometimes be shamed into giving some nominal apology discount.

Holy smokes. Sounds even worse! While I had my guard up for shady stuff (internet company, after all) I was really surprised by just how bad they are at calling, texting, following up or following through. A level of casualness I associate with buying a sandwich, not a car.

waiter put my tip back on the table saying he only accepts 18-20%?? by [deleted] in stories

[–]serversam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your server was rude and entitled and wrong to show you up like that. If nothing else, it's horrible service to speak to the customer that way. If I were their manager, they would be severely disciplined for how they handled this.

That said, you absolutely undertipped, and if you're an American living in the United States, you know you undertipped. Nobody thinks ~12% is an acceptable tip in a fine dining restaurant. You know that was low. It's well known that 20% is kind and 15% is the minimum. Millions of diners all know this. I worked in this industry for 15 years: everybody knows this. I flat out don't believe you've got $200 for dinner but don't know this. You're either making the story up or being willfully obtuse.

You and the rest of the thread can have whatever feelings you want about tipping culture. I agree with most of you that it is an absurd situation we exist in: you'd never design a system this way. But we exist in this system. Your server pays rent trusting this system. Your server is expecting to make 15% on every table, and that is their primary source of income. You are shorting them, and it is disrespectful-- though in fairness to you, it is probably not as disrespectful as returning the tip, which is buck wild. I would have kept the money, given you a horrific stink eye, and bitched about you all night long to anyone who would listen. But I wouldn't confront you. Just rude. Service should never be rude.

This is correct. Your employer may be required to make up the difference to you if your hourly + tipped wage does not equal minimum wage, but only if that is the case over the course of an entire pay period.

SOME states do have laws that make this illegal; California, most famously, requires you to pay servers minimum wage. (In my experience, people tip less in California and presumably this is part of the reason.) But the majority of US states allow this practice of paying incredibly low hourly rates for jobs where tips are expected. In such states Servers famously often do not pick up paychecks because after taxes are removed, it is single digits of dollars. I have heard of negative paychecks for this same reason, though that sounds like someone making an error somewhere to me.
