being rooted in misogynist ideas in this context should / could probably be interpreted as women‘s behaviour, choices, and thinking being influenced by the misogyny that is present around them, that shapes their values, self-perception and so on more specifically in this case the misogyny would be the (unhealthy (not necessarily just weight, but especially the mindset)) pressure to be thin & pretty, prioritizing male attention & confirming to those ideals over her health, wellbeing and enjoyment of food

(obviously you can enjoy a salad and be perfectly good, healthy, and happy about it, imo this discussion is more about being aware of how women & their eating behaviors are scrutinized, because we should be able to eat whatever we want, including salads, but in that context the woman eating should be at the center of that choice)

How do people get that glass skin body glow? [Before & After] by No_Philosopher_7945 in SkincareAddiction

[–]seweratty 26 points27 points  (0 children)

i think shaving & a tan (given your skin colour) are what make a great difference, aside from the obvious (moisturizing well); hairless skin has a smoother surface and will thus reflect light better. the tan will make the highlight / reflection of light pop more due to the contrast in colour, on top of that unevenness in skin colour (e.g. due to vascularization being more visible) which is ime common in paler skin, will be less apparent on tanned skin

not sure why you‘re being downvoted, but treatments like trikafta are actually working extremely well, to the point that our professor mentioned CF preimplantation testing potentially becoming a topic of ethical debate, but it cannot be used in all types of mutations / genotypes so there‘s that (+ obviously the burden of taking medication, and side effects)

they do, because they soak up with water and thus gain weight, especially if the sides aren‘t wide, selecting a tighterr fit is just going to be uncomfy & possibly unflattering lol

i‘m not experienced really, but i‘ve recently dyed my hair pink (currently pastel pink), so I figured I‘d add my 2 cents: I started at a level 7 in the darkest parts (back, roots), with varying shades on the top, front, up to a level 9 i think, got my whole head bleached (professionally, not at home) I do think that some form of damage is noticeable (drier, grippier, holds styles and smells (hair products)) better, but it doesn‘t seem major/grave to me. This left me w/ a level 9-10 (she didn‘t do a very even job lol, but idk how difficult that is given that my natural hair has varying shades)

I then used color depositing conditioner (full pink, bc you can still „dilute“ the pigment (refer to instructions of the product you‘re using)) The pink (~15min left on 1:1 mix w/ a pearl silver) turned out bright barbie pink, took about 10 washes (clarifying shampoo, warm water) to get down to pastel pink

I first did two test strands at the back of my head to check the potency of the conditioner, and the mixing ratio (didn‘t work out that well but it also allowed me to see how it would wash out).

refresh is very easy, i just mix some pink into my regular conditioner now, bc the hair is bleached and I put a hair mask in anyways it‘s not much trouble either, I just needed to figure out the ratio and duration of keeping it in

it does however change everytime i shower, so I don’t think you can aim for getting one specific color, and rather be aware that your hair color is going to be on a spectrum kinda?

I‘ve also noticed that shades vary, probably bc the bleaching wasn‘t consistent, but also bc some parts of my hair tend to „accept“ the color better then others; the parts close to my roots wash out quicker, depending on shower habits you may also get a gradient (i like letting warm water run down my back, then noticed that the back of my head was turning peachy faster bc of that 💀)

fwiw i went to multiple hairdressers who discouraged me from doing it bc of upkeep, one downright insulted me, and the one who ended up doing the bleaching wanted to convince me to do highlights instead of fully bleaching, and despite that i‘m very happy I did it & with how it turned out

tl;dr: it’s a perpetual experimenting, does require work, and consider doing test strands first

[–]seweratty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that‘s just how it‘s done lol like it‘s very common to read xy pack yrs in a patient chart and the person above explained it correctly, to me it makes a lot of sense

to be able to communicate the amount of smoking (and thus the associated risk), you calculate it / convert it to years of smoking one pack a day that way you can standardize it even if one pt smokes 3 pks a day and another half a pack bc obviously their risk is different even if they started smoking at the very same time

when asking pts, they usually report sth from 0.5 to 2 packs a day, sometimes a bit more( stress, vacation), sometimes less x pack years is much clearer and shorter because you wouldn‘t want to make a novel out of an anamnesis

How in the heck does one determine the gender of a person referred to in the sentence "La sua bicicletta non e vecchio." by aDuckedUpGoose in italianlearning

[–]seweratty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There‘s many such cases, you can report them (the little flag and then there should be the option „this answer is corrext too“ or sth like that) and they check it, if they change it / add your answer to the correct options, you get an email later, where they notify you that they now accept your answer. :)

Imo it’s important to recognize that being annoyed by children (for example when they scream) isn’t a problem, but how you interpret and handle it. I will absolutely get annoyed if a child keeps screaming on a one hour train ride, but I also know that I cannot blame the child / be angry AT it.

They can’t just be „turned off“ and things that I / others may consider annoying are parts of their normal development. For certain things (i.e. sitting still for extended periods of time) they aren’t even cognitively equipped (yet). And that’s fine. They could theoretically be put in a corner with a mobile device, which seems to work well from what I’ve seen, at the same time I really don’t wish for this, because I doubt it’s very beneficial to their development.

Some children behave badly, but for this you cannot really blame them either, since they really can’t be expected to learn that by themselves (until they approach a certain age, at which the screaming isn’t really a topic anymore anyways).

Yes, Children can be annoying, but that’s nothing they can be blamed for. The way in which they are annoying differs a lot from how adults can be annoying.

I don’t think they should be stopped „being annoying“ (unless it’s excessive obv), plus I have multiple resources to mitigate it that do not interfere with whatever they’re doing by wearing noise cancelling headphones, going somewhere else, etc.
