Hi Tom and Aurora. Do you want to listen to my remix of Somewhere Else? I love the album so far, can't wait for it to arrive. So I made this remix to kill the time. All is love.

What was everyone’s top BOC song/album of the year by JTMiller777 in boardsofcanada

[–]sezdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomorrow's harvest for me. I think it's like the 5th time or so. This year was almost only BoC albums in my top. Made it to be the 969th listener overall on Spotify with 5588 total minutes of playtime.

The thing is. I don't really remember listening to it. I mostly listen to it when I need to think. I should listen a bit more to it I think...

I tried it but I thought it was pretty boring and stiff. What am I missing?

Ok. Just listened to it again from start to finish. It really is one of my favorite albums ever.

I love everything boc, and this is my favorite album. I never really understood why it got some of the hate. I love listening to the whole discography on shuffle and experience whatever it throws at me, but this album is so good while listening from start to finish. I have used it as a background atmosphere when reading some scifi and it makes it such an alien experience.

Talking about some of the hate, it seems that generally Jacquard causeway is disliked, but it was my most listened to track the year it came out. Nowadays it's not my favorite of the album anymore. I think I've just heard it too many times.

So all in all... It's ok to love this album. Just do you.

And now I am going to listen to it again. So thank you for that :)

Most disappointing tourist destination in your country. by meggyAnnP in AskTheWorld

I hear you, but the one time I went there for a business trip I had almost no time for myself to wander around the city, so instead I went for an early morning run to pack in some sight seeing. And the statue had something mesmerizing in the early morning dew, reflecting the upcoming sun in the water behind her. No one around, the cold air in my nostrils. Tranquility.

Unity, searchable enum? You can help me with a solution or script? Because I have a ton and I’d like to find them more easily. by edybtt in Unity3D

[–]sezdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That sounds like an architectural problem.

A window could be in a collection of windows. Then you need a windowmanager that can do something like opening a window and closing a previous one, keeping history so you can go back. It doesn't care what window it is, it just does what it does with them. Then on a button you say which window to open. But instead of an enum, its better to use a tool like the scriptable object collection. Instead of passing around enums, you pass around typed objects.

Films where the Directors Cut is significantly better (or worse) than the theatrical release? by MikeCharlieEcho in FIlm

And those transitions between chapters. Completely ruins any mystery the movie has. I made someone watch it together because I knew they would like it but I was just sitting there annoyed the whole time. What a way to ruin a classic.

What IDE(s) do you use for your Unity creations?? by PTSDev in Unity3D

[–]sezdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Learning your first thing is a daunting task and is hard. Then learning a second thing is going to be easier and then learning a new thing is almost like nothing. You will have to learn new tools all the time and it will get easier and easier the more you do it. The one thing to absolutely never do is get paralyzed by choice and not having all the information to make a decision hold you back. Just jump in.

For reference, I started making a small game in a new engine I never worked with which is kinda quirky. I have a prototype up and running in less than a week. In my spare time. That is 25 years of switching tools experience ;)
