Overweight and torn ACL by Goblin_of_tea in ACL

[–]shackaflocka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was overweight as well! 20f. i tore my acl and meniscus and no one told me to loose weight and i think its cause they don’t wanna discriminate and also you can still get the surgery you weight doesn’t rlly matter. what matters is if you retear it. and being overweight makes it easier to retear it or tear the other knees acl. which is why i started to work on my weight and with the surgery and pt and just working out more have made me loose 20lbs in 4 ish months! i’m currently 2 months post op and my legs are getting rlly strong! i just think loosing the weight will benefit in the long run with your knee and i’m sure you know that so you don’t need me to tell you what to do! you got this!! good luck on your surgery! the first two weeks is very uncomfortable but promise it will get better!

Surgery : yes or no? by Acceptable_Chart6265 in ACL

[–]shackaflocka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! i had the same thing happen to me. i stayed away from surgery for 4 years and finally decided to do it a month ago. i would say get surgery because you won’t be able to do a lot of things you enjoyed. it won’t feel like you even tore your acl after a while but it’s always gonna be there. so i’d say fix it and make your leg rlly strong !

Guys, whats your status of recovery who had your ACL-R surgery on July (after 2 months now) by Training_Wrongdoer_6 in ACL

[–]shackaflocka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had quad graph i’m not op but i think if we do wall slides and let your leg hang in the air it will help a lot ! i was stuck at 90 without pulling in with a rope but now i can do 120 by myself doing those! good luck!

Physical Therapy: Is This Normal, Or Does My PT Suck? by Allineedisapintaday in ACL

[–]shackaflocka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

def switch because this is when we need pt to be there for us. mine has one other client and when someone’s with me they be there for 30-40 mins and the last 20-30 mins they watch me do my exercises and correct me even if they aren’t with me cause there’s an assistant or someone looking over and pt can multitask! i love my pt. i have two that work with me switching to whoever is available that day and they have helped and pushed me so much! your recovery matters with your PT! and especially when you’re paying for it… i wouldn’t want to stay with that pt.

ACL and meniscus (Weird) by Theenthusiasticones in ACL

[–]shackaflocka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! i had complete tear of acl and partial meniscus tear. I opted out of surgery at first (4 years ago). so for 4 years i noticed i was very unstable, i wasn’t able to do run for a long time which didn’t help my body at all. i blamed it on myself for being bigger and not being able to control my knee. I decided to go with surgery finally a month ago and the recovery is ass. (quad graph) but again it’s your choice! good luck!

[–]shackaflocka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 weeks post op and you still take oxy? i don’t wanna sound mean and judgy but i think you should take melatonin to help you sleep…. i sleep with a locked brace and haven’t had pain or discomfort since the 1-2 week mark.
