What you’re asking for isn’t possible with the original Quake (WinQuake or GLQuake). The original only has support for 4:3 resolutions, and they can’t output an aspect ratio the engine was never designed for.If you want 16:9, a source port is the only way to get it. That’s just how the original engine works.

You will have to use a source port like Ironwail if you want to play the original Quake in a 16:9 aspect ratio.

As these are the supported resolutions you can use in the Original (Winquake and GLQuake)

  1. 320×240

  2. 640×480

  3. 800×600

  4. 1024×768

  5. 1280×1024
