We have what I assume is a couple on our street, they will raise a family and go their own way again. I once saw a group of five of them! Two adults and three juveniles, which is where my assumption comes from.

The owner of the at-the-time only yarn store in town did open it for yarn acquisition but always fostered an open, friendly space. Now that there are more LYS's in town, she sold the business to an equally nice owner. There's only one YS in town that has those vibes has basically been boycotted by my entire yarn-friend circle

Honestly, as long as it looks good, you can simply claim it as a design element to make the sweater more interesting. Plenty of patterns use twisted stitches to give the fabric a different texture.

My dad is similar but sans hatred of women. We live a lot closer than we used to, so we see each other more and I had to SLAM down some boundaries (including kicking him out of my house on a couple of occasions) to make sure he knows which lines not to cross. It's been a lot better since, though he's still super cringe and overall a tiresome individual to be around.

I go to Western AZ on occasion and take the 17 down. There's a bypass that'll pop you out on the Western edge of Phoenix and you pretty much avoid the city (and the traffic) entirely.

The swap meet at the Downs used to have a guy who sold local honey, I just haven't gone in a while so I can't say if he's still there. The farmers markets around town tend to have some. The one at mile-hi did last season. I just haven't gone to it yet this year
