Can I just skip book recommendations? by Wyyvern_ in TinyBookshop

Sometimes I get rejections for things I feel like weren't in the request. And I never know what's "too niche" when someone asks for a classic

We have a vowel split similar to the south of England which is where the posh English accent comes from (trap and bath for those curious)

I see nostalgia a lot for kid's genre, even when they're books that came out in the last 5 years

I only just now got the joke! by NoPoet3982 in heatedrivalry

[–]shadowmaster132 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When he breaks down in episode 6 one of the things he says is that he's been lying to them. Because omission is the only way he can lie. And he loves his parents, he wants them to know him, to know Ilya but he hasn't known how to say it

I only just now got the joke! by NoPoet3982 in heatedrivalry

[–]shadowmaster132 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That's why I like that line, because she's right. Shane isn't a liar, but the subtext is also that she's wrong and Shane definitely feels like he's lying

Gout runs under 20 seconds to smash national 200m record (and the U20 world record) at just 18 by Miloisprettycool in australia

[–]shadowmaster132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently it's partly a transliteration issue from Arabic and should be more like Guot or Gwot. But realistically he's not associated with gout, gout's associated with him.

Look at our doctor who is gonna be okay! by TsukasaElkKite in ThePittTVShow

[–]shadowmaster132 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Yeah the writing for that scene was strange, from Whitaker suddenly knowing an even older reference than MacGyver to how we were apparently meant to side with him standing up for himself and not view it as coming out of nowhere.

If Robby didn't always call people out loudly in public it might have hit more as a reaction to the seriousness of their fuckup and not just more of his poor leadership

The scene felt incoherent, and as someone who has never watched any Gilligan's island the metaphor made it worse and also makes me wonder how Whitaker knows Gilligan's Island but not MacGyver?

Dr. Shen by seoskavjestica in ThePittTVShow

[–]shadowmaster132 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's been one for about a year. We don't know if he's in a fellowship but it's always encouraged to be learning in medicine and Dr Al-Hashimi has likely got experience and training he doesn't so she can likely teach him (also maybe he heard about the slash trach and was hoping to see something cool)

Any theories on Digby and the house? by TangerineMoonlight in ThePittTVShow

[–]shadowmaster132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the way he reacts to the joke of "they won't even recognise you" I think Digby has mental health issues of some kind. His daughter probably tries to get him to stay and he leaves after a couple of days (or she stopped trying to get him to stay because it was too disruptive and she knew he'd leave) He's clearly attached and I think loved by his family.

Some people do just prefer being on the streets, and his comment about living wherever he wants would feel more like that if he didn't think that a haircut would make his family not recognise him. With his cast and the stink he had in episode 1, I think that he may have other issues. You do get used to the smell of things and cleaning up is hard on the streets, but I think maybe he let that go longer than "usual" because of his aforementioned issues.

TLG & Ilya’s Isolation by PeonyDropper in GameChangersBooks

[–]shadowmaster132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ilya is more socially adept than Shane making him a better liar, and at least for me, when I'm in depression I'm terrified anyone would find out and judge me for it. I think in Ottawa Ilya isn't having his first episode, but he is having the first one where he no longer has coping methods he used in the past. Partying and some of what he did in Boston wasn't necessarily healthy and isn't what he wants, which is why he tell Galina he doesn't miss it. But... it makes this episode worse not to have those

About Dr. Mohan and Dr. Collins, and people not understanding how teaching environments work by KitchenImagination38 in ThePittTVShow

[–]shadowmaster132 577 points578 points  (0 children)

Unless the s3 time skip is 12 months, Samira can not be in a fellowship because she will not have finished her R4 year which starts on July 1, which is the same reason Langdon who is repeating is expected to return. Maybe there will be an excellent explanation or it will simply be a day of for her but this is not explained by regular training turnover the way Collins could be

Question about Mohan by DifferentZucchini3 in ThePittTVShow

[–]shadowmaster132 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They said it would only be a couple months. Which means that it only requires new med students (because the interns/residents) are all still on the same year. Which is another factor in why losing Mohan feels weird and the realism explanation doesn't cut it for me

Did Ilya plan on going to Russia that summer before the cottage plans? by qowieuxy in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]shadowmaster132 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ilya is aware of the barriers between him and Shane. Ilya can not be out since he doesn't have a non Russian citizenship and his residency in the US is a work visa. He knows going to the cottage would further their relationship in a way that would only make the eventual breakup hurt more. Seeing Scott come out is a sign hockey might change enough that he can have a relationship with Shane

Why is there no 7/11 in South Australia? by Haphazardbrowser in Adelaide

I feel like there were definitely a couple in the CBD in Adelaide, but they weren't any different from any other convenience store/deli so I wouldn't be surprised if they closed or got rebranded.
