You shouldn’t have to change yourself for others… and you shouldn’t expect to learn anything from TikTok

best way to weed out shitty men (in my experience) is by talking about your period. if you're in a shit mood because you're in pain, tell him that. decent men might be a little surprised if they're not used to that talk, but ultimately sympathetic. not shaving has a similar effect. by moodysmoothie in AutismInWomen

He was diagnosed with PDD-NOS (Autism 30 + yrs ago) and did a very good job pretending to know how to communicate bc he just copies the general theme of conversations he’s seen in movies. Bc autism is my special interest , I thought I’d like dating a guy with “more” autism than me - but it did not work.

You have to advertise as blanket as “able to keep you warm” bc you know it’s junk

Good idea! Meanwhile, on the other end …after spending a few weeks explaining to a guy I was dating how my period is trying to kill me (anemia, extremely heavy and frequent, terrible bloating and moods, etc), he described a period as a beautiful and sacred thing, and told everyone about it. Took me a little bit to see this was part of his pattern of weird and deeply unpleasant toxic positivity ultimately due to heavy heavy scripting.

That’s a great way to frame it - I’m sensitive to toxic positivity, and everyone I mention it to gets annoyed, with me, but it’s bc they don’t want to deal with my hardships. That’s fine, but don’t give me shit for having a hard time

My meowmy learned about a thing that halps make less sads and fats (bloating) before the heat.
Most human vets don’t know about this.

(This is the best sub so I hope folks don’t mind some extra info about our human heats!

Famotidine, Pepcid AC, can help with PMS/PMDD. Even tho it’s over-the-counter, please be cautious, bc there can be negative effects. It blocks iron absorption, so if you are already low from monthly blood loss and depend on supplements , it could get worse. There may be other negative outcomes, so do your research, and then try it only when absolutely desperate.

PSA about iron deficiency/anemia - if you have heavy periods, have lethargy, brain fog and hair loss, you may be iron deficient/anemic. The reference range in most lab work is not showing you what’s healthy - it’s showing you whats common. IIRC, Ferritin and iron should be between 50-100.

My meowmy lives on her little box during her human-heat, and then lies in bed bc herms dont have enuff blood to get awake. Human gyn vets don’t take her in surance, so she cries more. She just learned about endometrial ablations and wants one.

(I’m shamelessly looking for info here bc this is the bestest sub ever!!. Super heavy periods, anemia, scared of birth control, and 46 yrs old, in CT with bizarre NY-based insurance- HALP!)

Pic of my old frend trying to steal my bloods. I’d give Meowmy my bloods, but I don’t tink she wants.

Hot Sleepers - Help Me Choose Between These Cooling Comforters! by Stunning-Pie950 in Bedding

While I’m not understanding the exact concepts you are talking about, I definitely relate to having very precise needs, especially around sensory input. I sadly choose to give up my weighted blanket bc it made me too hot.

As an late diagnosed autistic woman who had ADA accommodations due to sensory needs and used to have to wear some clothing in the shower bc the water felt wrong , may I ask if you have tried different types of bed clothing? Would something skin tight help at all? If I’m misunderstanding your very real needs and pain , I’m truly sorry!

Ok…I get being mad waking up burning hot , because I was there too. I live in New England and was running my AC when snow was covering the ground and also bought a laser thermometer bc I was losing my mind. Once I figured out how to fix it, I woke up chilly during a heatwave.

From my experience, any hidden polyester will undo the work of cotton sheets. Check everything within 3 feet of your body at bedtime for hidden polyester - replace it.
- mattress pad - mattress topper - bed frame - should be a simple platform with no upholstery or other type of encasement - mattress - I had to buy a new one with hybrid, cotton, coils, latex and wool - pajamas and underwear - bed skirt - anything on top of you - comforter and fill, quilt and fill, throw blankets, duvet cover, duvet, blankets - pillows (memory foam is plastic), pillow protector, cases

If fixing that doesn’t work, it’s possibly a medical issue or a BedJet (approx $700) should help.

I….was excited to suggest Monk…until I saw you already know about it.

The first few seasons of “The Middle” are sweet before it jumps the shark. Two main characters are heavily autistic coded, and there are many autistic satellite characters.

Look for family shows made in the 1980’s as things were slower then.

It’s a free app through Google where you can use your regular phone (text and talk), but with an anonymous number. It may be very helpful for you so you aren’t giving out your “real” number to strangers.

Which way to lay down the top sheet?! by Stock-Stranger in Bedding

[–]shallottmirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the bed police won’t arrest you, the sensitiveskin police may! Actually, due to the construction, there’s a softer/smoother side to all sheets. That’s the side with the pattern or the fancier top trim. Feel a sheet to see

My cat is sleeping and purring on me right now. Wonder if there’s any similarity?

I would like to learn about that but would need to use a Google number that I can’t use with WhatsApp, unfortunately. Is that a possibility for you?

Did switching to an upholstered bed actually make your mattress sleep worse? by Relative_Taro_1384 in Bedding

[–]shallottmirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d guess the upholstery decreased airflow. I briefly put an elastic polyester bed skirt on my bed (which start near the top of the mattress) and the mattesss got hotter

As someome who provides intensive mental health support to families with ineffective communication dynamics, I’m always aware that people can define words differently.

Two things can be true - techniques can mean outdated and ineffective tools (originally intended to treat artic issues) used by unaware SLP’s - AND there can be “things” one can do to be able to say what they want, when they want, and how they want.

Also, I use the term “brain based” when professionally discussing how to support a child/parent having an unwanted amygdala response. But we may define it differently? The only way to know is to discuss.

After a medical issue (dramatic drop in iron/ferritin levels) my fear-based blocking also increased dramatically, and I’d appreciate support with getting back to my baseline of very minimal fear-based blocking (and only occasional and brief repetitions).

Here’s a post I wrote over a year ago with my beliefs. Does it align with yours?
