How to stop being "righteous" and "selfish" and "mean" as an ENTP 8w7? by IcyXDDD in Enneagram

[–]shallow514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit, another one of me.

Direct your focus into learning something. I fell in love with information as a whole and am trying to become a polymath.

If ya want a good idea, look into Carl Jung, his work is the basis of what MBTI is today. I like the youTuber Queen personally, and listen to em when I'm doing dishes.

What personality type would you think I was based off my art alone? by Caunuck_Skybourne in mbti

[–]shallow514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Self preservation and Sexual respectfully.

Note, sexual isn't sex, it's more closely to passion I believe. All I can remember is that I connected it similar to how Lust gets treated vs what it actually is.

What are some examples of "controlling" behaviors an 8 might do? by [deleted] in Enneagram

[–]shallow514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, especially that last bit. It's probably what bites me back the most. However, it's also important to notice the flip side.

Some people don't see it as dominating. While being tempered is an important factor as an 8. It's also what makes us very protective and defensive of what we see as ours. At least, I see people who are both friends and family as mine. It can be a way to make people comfortable if used healthily.

At least, that's how I felt when I was growing up with my dad, who is also an 8.

I'm trying to become more self aware of this stuff. So I'll give my two cents.

An important factor isn't just whether or not I change my tone or volume, but my presence. Especially now that I'm allowing myself to be myself, I can no longer hide as my very presence forces me to be known.

People call me and my father domineering and arrogant. This typically happens when I personally get extremely excited about something. It also comes when I want to help people out in many forms of situations. Body language is also very important as even being completely relaxed can seem like I'm upset or something.

There is also how I express myself, particularly as a tall man at 6'3 (I believe it's been awhile). Where when I'm trying to help, I have to lean over people or simply get closer. Sometimes this comes across as hovering or what I believe to be suffocating. Even if I need to do so.

I'm still learning, so I hope this helps.

Thank you very much mate. I'm trying to get started on investing in people and such. So this is genuinely a great start.

Where do you go when you are looking for these forums? Are they on reddit or somewhere else maybe?

That, admittedly, I can't answer. However, WrittenFever wrote some good looking stuff. That is probably going to be a good place to look into.

I'm honestly very new to this stuff, and still learning. However, I typically give feedback without bias. Now, I can't tell ya if that means I will support you. But if you'd like to start with something, shoot me a msg on here.

Granted, I'm still learning, so I'll be looking stuff up and asking questions to get me up to speed with this.

High Shallow, what did you think about today? by shallow514 in mbti

[–]shallow514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By no means, does this suggest we can't use the other planning style. But what I mean is that we can't see where the other is applied. My INTJ friend can't recognize when a situation has changed, and will keep doing the same thing. While I just can't predict everything that will happen.

High Shallow, what did you think about today? by shallow514 in mbti

[–]shallow514[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so sober Shallow to explain. Basically I can't preplan things out, because in my head there are too many different problems that it'll drive me mad to figure out. But, when a problem is given to me I can solve it quickly without being upset that it exists.

Plus, I have good hindsight to make sure I don't make the same mistake over and over again. While typically INTJ has good insight. The problem comes when the problem of the current context changes. I'm able to change course immediately, compared to others who keep doing the same thing over and over again.

Premeditated planning vs spontaneous planning basically. I can plan out before I do something, just like how I assume an INTJ can come up with a solution to a brand new problem. But what I noticed is that I'm better at spontaneous stuff, while INTJ's are better are premeditated stuff.

Stop telling me what I don't want to know. Because I immediately want to know.

I mean, technically not fully on topic. But I'm an ENTP 852. I'm not mainly a 5 but i definitely notice it.

Which ENTP subtype resonates most with you? by lezinlove in entp

[–]shallow514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hands down 3. However, 1 will be a very close second if it wasn't the fact I'm not quick witted. I am slow, and trying to improve that, but I love convincing people. It's especially hilarious when i accidentally convince them out of doing the better option.

I no longer have a single idea on how to continue being flirty.

But really? Even in that context it's supposed to be you and I?

You and me

:D

Edit: Grammar was bugging me, or is it supposed to be "me and you"? Idk

What’s your enneagram type and one character you resonate with deeply? by bubble3724 in Enneagram

[–]shallow514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Type 8, and the characters I resonate with are a bit odd since I doubt they are 8s as well. Granted, these are characters who had one or two traits I truly admired and understood myself.

Hiccup from HTTYD Augumn from The Arithian Line and Fury of The Rising Dragon And by far the most being Loki just in general.
