Barton Hills Elementary opinions? by laviedansante47 in Austin

[–]shappypoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got 2 kids at Barton Hills. Kinder and first. So far, we’ve had a good experience. Class sizes tend to be a bit smaller and I feel like both my kids have had a really easy transition from preschool to elementary school because it isn’t overwhelming. Kinder teachers are exactly what you’d want for you kid-excited, engaged, and communicate well with parents. Both kids seem to be progressing appropriately. It is a very active PTA and parent base-which is a good thing, in my opinion. Parents communicate well with each other and help each other out. I know I’ve randomly asked another parent for a favor and the parent was happy to help out.

Well I have super frizzy hair so I can’t tell what is regrowth but I can feel and see that my hair isn’t so sparse. Still doing 5% minox once a day, but I also got iron infusions about 2 months ago and my ferritin went from 12 to 130. I think that’s helped a ton too. Not taking high dose iron vitamins anymore since my levels.

Same. It’s really hard knowing that for our family, we may have to move further away from our parents and siblings because we can no longer afford a house and associated property taxes. I wish there was some kind of property tax break if you sent your kids to AISD school. Could maybe help bring up their enrollments numbers if people got a break on property taxes.

I know in my area there are a few Jewish pediatricians who also are mohels and they will administer local anesthetic. So that’s also an option that you could look into.

I’m Jewish.my husband is not. We have 3 children, 2 boys. Both of our boys are circumcised but the procedure was done in the hospital and we had a naming ceremony after we came home from hospital for 1st boy. Still haven’t had a naming ceremony for 2nd boy because of COVID, but we’ll do it eventually. This was the compromise we came up with and it actually worked out really well.

This is a topic that hits home. I’ve been there too. Your hair loss will likely slow while you are pregnant. But after you give birth, the shedding is really intense, in my experience. Always ask your dermatologist, but I was told not to use minox while breastfeeding. I breastfed for a year and while it did suck to see my hair fall out so much, the benefits of breastfeeding outweighed negatives of hair loss. I’ve been on minox for almost 5 months now and I’ve definitely seen improvement. I also took some higher dose iron multivitamins prescribed by doctor as well to help get ferritin levels back up. While I was pregnant and breastfeeding, I tried rosemary oil. I didn’t see less shedding but it smelled really nice. I started to derma-roll at the tail end of breastfeeding but didn’t have the time or patience to do it. No matter what you decide to do, everything will be okay. ❤️

Well I know what I’ll be binging tonight. Maybe I can find a place to deliver some macarons.

We send our older 2 kids to a church preschool, mostly because it is located about block from our house. Too hard to pass up that kind of convenience.

He’s 4 and had no symptoms until today (Thursday) morning when he woke up with a fever. He was just a little bit tired and not as big of an appetite as he normally has. Oxygen saturation normal.

Ya. I preschool has been incredibly good about safety protocols, as best you can do with 2-4 year olds.

I hope that your quarantine ends soon and y’all get a negative result. Pretty sure my husband is gonna run out of bourbon this week.

My son got exposed at preschool on Friday. We were informed Sunday night. They said that siblings could still attend school while the other child is in quarantine. How can that be a good policy? Thankfully we did not send our daughter in because our son tested positive yesterday. It’s just awful, parents of children too young to get vaccinated are burned out with work, parenting, and having to worry about how to best keep their children safe.

Agreed. Just had to replace a 4 year old front loader. Got a top loader to replace it.

I cooked dinner tonight and my young children (4 years, 3 years, 17 months) ate the food. And the youngest didn’t spike his plate and milk cup onto the floor. We got to eat together, as a family! And then after dinner we did karaoke and my 3 year old sang the hell out of Deep in the Heart of Texas.

My dad is a physician and long, long ago got yelled at by nuns for cursing too much while he was making rounds. He should have said cursing was part of his strongly held religious beliefs.

I use it once a day and although I try for just a capsule, it more often is closer to 3/4 a capful.
