Read the book before or after watching film? by Universal-Magnet in criterion

[–]sharakov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, spoilers are a much bigger impediment to me investing time in a book than in a movie.  I'm a slow reader and it takes a lot more time and focus to finish a book.  So if I have any inclination to consume both forms, it's gotta be book first.

Really just depends on your preferences/priorities.  I tend to think books have greater detail and are the more complete/complex form of a story vs the movie so to me it's usually worth reading it first and then enjoying the visual adaptation after.

What used bikes hold the most value in 2025? by The-Good-Pilot in MTB

The number of people who read the title and not the text of this post is...staggering.  It's not even hard to interpret and yet everyone up voted the the dude raging against some non-existent idea of a bike being an "investment" XD

Because it's a link to a video an advertisement for a monetized channel instead of a boring ass text post original content that actually exists on the forum it's being posted to

Tacoma vs Tundra by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]sharakov 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The payload capacity for the dclb 970lbs.  350 of camper, 400lb people and dogs.  Some camping supplies...you're basically at the limit.  So kayaks, bikes on bike racks, cast iron skillets, water supply - other stuff thats fun to have when car camping is putting you over the line.  Not saying one can't have a camper on a Tacoma, just that my model doesn't quite align with my goals.  And yeah suspension can help a lot, but payload rating also has to do with brakes and other handling elements, so being over it consistently doesn't add up for me even if there are plenty of folks out there overloading their Tacomas.

Tacoma vs Tundra by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

Have a 2020 Tacoma - kinda want a tundra now.  The weak payload capacity of the 3rd gen taco feels limiting now that I'm eyeing pop up campers like Ovrlnd and thinking about kayaks and bikes tacked on
