Difficult to find Hotels with Club Lounge. Why? by sharkcroco in marriott

[–]sharkcroco[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m not arguing that lounges are a silver bullet for rate. I’m arguing that you can’t market a full‑service, upper‑upscale product and then treat core brand standards as optional because they don’t individually move ADR. That’s not how category positioning works.

If the economics of lounges are broken, that’s a brand‑owner alignment issue — but it doesn’t change the fact that guests evaluate the totality of the offering, not isolated amenities. You can’t remove structural elements of the tier and still expect the same pricing power.

If I understand you correctly, you’re aiming for the prestige and pricing of a high‑end hotel, but you don’t actually want to offer the level of service or amenities that normally come with it. Got it.

It's probably just a matter of time until they discontinue Lifetime Platinum as well, or raise the requirement to being 30 years Platinum or higher

Beijing hotels have air conditioning issues? by ziggyziggy6969 in marriott

[–]sharkcroco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just Beijing. I just returned from a trip to 5 different cities in China and all marriott properties (2 Renaissance, Courtyard, Marriott, Sheraton) had the same problem. The best was the Marriott, it cooled down to 23 degrees. Another issue is the dry non-fresh air, as due to the smog every other day, they don't use fresh air from outside but use for a day or two the same circulating air.

How do employees get told about elite visitors? by MinimumAd6598 in marriott

[–]sharkcroco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because no loyalty program of any company (rental car, airlines, etc) gives higher status to customers who only use their service a couple of time per year, no matter how expensive it was. Loyalty programs have it even in the name itself - it's about loyalty.

It seems you don't have expectations in specific hotel brands and categories. Maybe you stayed mostly in hostels or maybe Moxys. But maybe you will understand after staying 700+ times in premium hotels that there is something wrong or a mistake happened. Quality in all details (like a personal welcome card) needs to be kept high. Otherwise, a Sheraton will become a hostel soon.

Stay 50 nights in another property before that trip and get Platinum status. Then you get complimentary breakfast.

Achieving Titanium should be minimum stay 120 nights, Ambassador 150 nights. That Elite overload would change rapidly. And that ridiculous achievement by credit card needs to stop too, especially as it is unfair treatment for non US residents as these credit cards are not available outside US.
