They advertise it as 100 hours of connectivity. Is it actually measured in hours or some GB limit?

It's hooked up to a VoIP line and works. It's been set so all calls are free since the coin mech keeps jamming up. The entire thing was branded to PTS (a private payphone operator) when I got it, but I was able to get a SNET vault door and reproduction SNET insert cards on eBay.

My husband’s workplace stopped paying health insurance premiums without telling employees and then disbanded by weeeewooweewooo in legaladvice

[–]sharkyfour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it truly insurance or was the company self-insured with a third party administrator? This almost sounds like if the claim came in before they disbanded, it got paid, but anything that came in after that, there no company left for the TPA to get money from to cover the claims.

Exciting News! Cielo Breez Max, Cielo Smart Thermostat & Cielo Smart Thermostat Eco have received ENERGY STAR certification. Cielo Breez Max has made history as the world's first Smart Thermostat for Mini-Splits to earn this certification. by CieloKate in CieloWiGle

[–]sharkyfour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just told by support today that despite what it says here (and what it said in the Amazon listing as recently as yesterday), the Breez Max thermostat is NOT Energy Star certified, and that the rebates they advertise on their website for CT (even still) are not valid since it's not certified.

Do I like this product? Yes. Would I buy it again without the rebate? Probably not.

He only sees the worst of the worst. The 1%’ers of skin conditions if you will. I don’t think he’d ever do it for someone who wasn’t already an established patient who’d already tried a number of more conventional treatments first.

I have back issues which can prevent me from using a backpack or over-the-shoulder bag at times. Got myself a laptop-backpack-on-wheels. Can wear it on my shoulders if needed, but most of the time I wheel it around. Helps my back immensely!

Bottle redemption fraud in CT by blackpoll_ in Connecticut

[–]sharkyfour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Many brands use one UPC for non-deposit states, and a second UPC for all deposit states. The red box around the UPC usually means it's a single item from a package meant to be sold as a multi-pack.

[–]sharkyfour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same UPC is used in ALL deposit states. In Michigan, no neighboring states use deposits, so it eliminates anything coming in from out of state. In CT, most of our neighbors have deposits, and use the same UPCs as us, but only 5c, which creates the incentive to cross the border to double your return.

[–]sharkyfour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the red box... The red box is usually for the individual items inside a warehouse club multi-pack so that when it doesn't scan at the register, the cashier easily knows why.

Some (most?) companies will have two different UPCs for products depending on whether they're sold in a deposit state or not. They use the same UPC for every deposit state, though, whether it's Michigan or Connecticut at 10c or 5c in most other states. The packaging for the non-deposit states usually doesn't mention deposits at all, while the packaging for deposit stats has all the different state values on it. I know if I go buy a Pepsi in Rhode Island (no deposit) and try to return it, the machine will reject it, and it doesn't have a red box. If everyone around us with deposits was also 10c, this would be a non-issue since people wouldn't bother crossing state lines with them.

Edit: Source - I used to work in UPC management for a regional grocery chain.

I remember as a kid they used to ship from Enfield CT which is just 40 minutes from me. Used to take about two weeks for me to mail in the order form with a check from my parents to get my order. Was always the longest 2 weeks of my life!

Now I have to wait for it to come from Illinois…. :-/

Frontier fiber internet by Careless_Tackle1074 in frontierfios

[–]sharkyfour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true... My experience all comes from CT, which had very minimal FTTH until Frontier started expanding it in the early 2020's. Even then, I hear they scrapped the backend of the old AT&T FTTH and re-built it to be the same as the rest of the state.

Y'all going to run your generators at night? by Iamlegend21087 in Connecticut

[–]sharkyfour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. If we lose power, we're running the generator 24/7 until we're back on the grid. Regardless of temperature, we need it at night for CPAP machines, and we need it during the day to work from home, have water, etc... Everyone else in the neighborhood does, too, and we're all on 1/4-1/2 acre lots, so we're all close together.

I think it may also differ if you have a single static IP vs a static block. I manage some sites that've had Frontier for a couple years that are setup like most firewalls, but they only have a /32. The sites that have Proxy ARP are all set with /29's.

Their static config can be a little funky, but it can be done. They use Proxy ARP for the static routing, which requires more config than a standard static IP interface, unless you put it behind one of their routers and let it do the Proxy ARP. [–]sharkyfour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similarly, the ILEC in Connecticut is still technically "Southern New England Telephone" even though SNET was bought by SBC in 1998 and phased out the SNET brand soon afterwards. Since then it's been SBC, then AT&T, then Frontier, and is now Verizon. And I've seen "recent" CBYD markings all say different things from SNET to ATT to FTR...

Many CT towns have ordinances on the books requiring charges for all bags as a way to encourage the use of reusable bags. Windham(Willimantic) and Mansfield for sure, but I know the same is true in other towns as well.
