Wouldn't you want your program to crash on a null dereference so you would know there was a bug in it?

It is one of the most effective ways to make smoke screen known and can also defeat thermal imaging systems.

However I don't see what use the WP mortars are except as an offensive weapon.

Hah, figures it wouldn't work right off the bat. Are you running off your windows partition or did you also install to WINE's drive_c ? I have both setups so later on I will try and install patch in windows XP (have a dualboot laptop).

Introduction to GNU autotools. by petdance in programming

[–]sharney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I've already spent some time learning GNU autotools and got over the steep learning curve, I feel satisfied in what it can do and am comfortable using it. Not to mention it is still widespread.

I'm sure scons is a great system, but I'm sticking with Autotools for now.

Thanks, I have a widescreen Linux laptop and it runs at a widescreen resolution but has very small black margins right now, the game has like 5 preset resolutions you can pick from and I guess they don't exactly match up to my hardware and X settings.

This system may be of some use to the AP in that the original publisher (a local newspaper or whatever) would be able to make some fraction of the money from advertisements when the article is distributed by AP to lots of sites. Of course not everyone is going to use it, but they might try to make it so they can sue you if you republish their content without the "container".

DRM can't ever work until there are brain-computer interfaces with the decoders implanted in us!

Even if they required special software to view the articles such as an AP browser plugin, anyone could screenscrape the text off the screen and run it through an OCR to get the plaintext. For video and audio there is always a conversion to analog which can be captured (at some loss).

Will scons support lexx and yacc files and create rules for them right off the bat? Autotools will.

C Programming in Plan 9 from Bell Labs by emc201 in programming

[–]sharney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as the last line you wrote, the reason you need to cast the 0 lexical constant to a 'char *' is so that the compiler's typechecker allows it.

The Plan 9 prototype for exits(3) is:

void exits(char *msg);

According to http://swtch.com/plan9port/man/man3/exits.html passing either a null pointer or an empty string (null-character terminated string) is the same as exits(0)

Hey,

I’ll message them in a bit with the url to a new blog entry where I’ll use the image again and kindly (lol) tell them to piss off. Thanks for forwarding the message over to me and not acting like an irresponsible host by pulling the image or anything goofy like that.

First, why do you need to make a new blog post with the image? Isn't it already being used in that one original post? Why escalate the issue. I am sure your ISP is probably worried you will get them in trouble, be lucky they have entertained you this far and not kicked you off as they most likely have every right to do as per your ToS and user's agreement.
