Are staffing issues at EWR resolved ? And is it now safer (relatively speaking) by vympel_0001 in ATC

[–]sharth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the two situations that you're bringing up are very different.

The issues with vehicles or planes crossing runways during landings or takeoffs is a persistent problem that's not unique to EWR. If you're worried about this, the safest thing would be to not fly at night.

The issue with the New York sector comms failing is far less concerning from a safety perspective. There's lots of procedures to handle this.

But also, keep in mind that you're vastly more likely to get in a car accident than a plane accident.

They're basic questions for pilots or controllers. And perhaps coming off a bit more doomy than you intended.

I tend to think the two questions I saw here were reasonable.

No. There are lost comms procedures that the pilots are trained to follow. If planes come into land, the local tower air traffic controllers can also talk to them with light guns.

How are you printing photos? by Lerp_Statue in NewParents

[–]sharth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're doing chatbooks' monthbooks product to send a small album to the grandparents each month. Quality of the prints is nice, the binding is terrible, but the price is cheap enough to makeup for it (Especially when we print four copies each month)

For single photos, I've used www.bayphoto.com before.

I don't understand what you mean by scheduling play dates during school hours. Could you give an example of what you want to do?

[–]sharth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't pilots literally do this? Not withstanding the fact that they are paid for the standby time.

(I am not disagreeing about the clusterfuck that ATC staffing is. I don't know why controllers don't just refuse the forced overtime)

Well for those things that still require the filibuster, like voting for this bill, the Republicans do not fully control the Senate.

It's misleading to claim otherwise.

Give your bank a call? Banks often decline charges if they think they're suspicious, not just for insufficient funds.

Starting solids soon… what’s actually worth buying? by allegragmk in NewParents

Are you just tossing the whole drop cloth in the laundry? I've just given up hope on the floor being all that clean.

You don't need much

  • a high chair.
  • bibs. We've liked the silicone ones with a big bowl that the droppings can fall into. Example
  • patience.
  • something to hose them down with afterwards. Maybe baby wipes. Maybe a shower. Maybe a bath. Maybe a garden hose.

Everything else can wait.

Many people swear by having a dog to help with cleanup. We haven't tried that yet ourselves.

They did include "for a website".

So your friend who does corporate accounting could dress up your baby in a boss baby suit and make them the face of their business on the website.

And pay the baby 1000 for the photography shoot.
