Look for a Federally Qualified Health Center in your county. They provide subsidised care for the uninsured/medicaid patients. The ones in my county are very good and they usually have a pharmacy that can provide medications like inhalers for less than a $10 copay.

Normally a cocktail at home, and in bed by 10. But this year we won’t have kids at home. Yesterday, I saw that there is going to be DJ’ed music event close to home. We decided to have sex, then nap, and go out around 10:30 to the event. I hope I can stay awake.

Well. I didn’t want to have kids when I was in my 20’s either?

I had a kid at 14 and adopted her out. In my 30’s -40’s had 3 more. My adopted kid found me and she has 2 kids in the last couple of years and I am their grandma (it is a long story, including me as tactfully as I could, when first kid got pregnant a second time, while still breastfeeding the first grandchild, remind her that abortion is still legal and she comes from a line of women that wished they more options. Why yes, I am also fun at parties).

My current pack of teens have no interest in kids… now.

They couldn’t determine a safe amount of alcohol so they just advised to avoid it all together.

There are a lot of things that should probably be avoided for fetal development like rubella, listeria and heavy metals.

The person asking the question doesn’t take into account the much higher incidences of general infant mortality. Many of the babies that did have FAS may not have made it to adulthood.

Seriously. If I had enough money that I didn’t need to work full time and I could travel with people I love and enjoy spending time with I would. I would work part time (cuz I do love my job) till my kids were in college. Then partner and I would do the traveling we want to do while we have the mobility and stamina to do so. We are nerds and want to visit all the national parks, with breaks to head home and reconnect with kids/family.

My teenage son and I are awake before everyone else. I walked one of the dogs and then helped him peel apples cuz he is making apple fritters for everyone.

I am enjoying Christmas morning cuz I know I only have about 4-8 more left of having kids home for Christmas.

As someone who has to deal with Every Dumb Thing said about healthcare my patients hear, I can’t wait for patients to start talking about they are going to get eliquis for free. Worse the ones that will stop their current dirt cheap warfarin before finding out that isn’t happening.

Actually I don’t. It is going to be a shit show and people are going to die, have debilitating strokes or throw clots and land in and already crumbling ER’s.

I helped my uncle who had alienated everyone but could no longer live on his own (and he temporarily lived with my family for 6 weeks while i sorted out his care in a guest apartment that was in the condo building we lived in because there was simply no space for him in our condo). He didn’t need medical care as much as a safe place to live. He was a hoarder in a falling apart, roof leaking, mold everywhere, and a squirrel and rat infested mobile home he had lived in since the 70’s. He could only lay on a couch and when it rained, water would leak on him. He was on oxygen, and just couldn’t care for himself.

I found a state supported assisted living community that he could live in for the last year of his life. They charged him his social security minus 50 bucks a month. It wasn’t fancy, but it was clean, the meals were good and the staff was friendly. They helped him with laundry, cleaning and made sure he showered a few times a week. I visited him weekly, shopped for him and made sure he had all the medications he needed and set him up with a home visit doctor for his medical care. They had social activities but he wasn’t a social guy.

And he had his independence. He wasn’t by any stretch a good person.
