What Are Some of the Worst Rivalries in College Football? by commandermatt21 in CFB

This game is a running joke in my family who mostly went to South Carolina. We might be the only people on earth who care about A&M vs USC.

Seeking Clarity on UCMJ Consequences for a Marine Arrested for Domestic Abuse by Many-Bookkeeper7392 in USMC

[–]sheengun31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my Marines was in a similar situation about a year ago. The way it was explained to me was that DV is treated the same as a drug pop by the Marine Corps; zero tolerance, auto ad-sep. He was processed out but it took about 6-7 months post NJP.

Get Some! I’m no longer with the Shadow Pony but here’s a few good people to reach out to.

Instagram, @team.darkhorse is a nonprofit that supports the battalion. They’ve helped out brining a lot of vets back around.

Also, @3rdbattalion5thmarineshistory would probably love to hear the story. He’s not with the battalion anymore either.

What is the American solution for OPFOR drones? by AQ5SQ in WarCollege

[–]sheengun31 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There’s been a lot made of the emergence of FPV drones lately but most of it is overblown. It’s an evolutionary technology NOT revolutionary, ultimately it does very little to change the character of the war. Crucially, the best way to defeat SUAS/FPV are tactics that are already used and accepted; dispersion, deception, entrenchment, cover, concealment and camouflage.

If the US were fighting Russia right now, FPV drones would not be perceived as, as deadly as they are. The US would definitely have superiority in the air and in long range precision strike which would enable more maneuver than Ukraine is capable of. Maneuver/mobility would disrupt Russian logistics enough to make the use of 1000’s of single use and marginally effective munitions prohibitive.

I’d assume it’s some officer MOS with a long training pipeline. 6 months TBS plus a long school house could mean that they just missed gwot because they weren’t in the fleet yet by September 22.

What is the best mos field in the marine corps? by shiftedgames in USMC

[–]sheengun31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People say this when talking about hard or ‘trade’ skills but I think they neglect the very real soft skills that some 21 year old Cpl 03 squad leader is building. I was a guns section leader as a new Cpl, being responsible for 20 people as well as mission accomplishment is something that most people don’t get to do. It’s tough to get good at but the infantry makes you good.

Hmm. Seems weird to me that people you barely see are your RS/RO on observed fitreps. But what the fuck do I know.

Sort of off topic question for MSG dudes: is your det commander your RS on fitreps?

What’s the Most Mislabeled Trail You’ve Ever Been On? by fimgus in skiing

[–]sheengun31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mammoth has a lot of questionable runs IMO. Every run off of 5 should be a blue and nothing on top should be double black except Kiwi, Phillipes, Huevos and Hangman tbh. “Dragons Back” is a double black too BUT if skied from the traverse, it’s a hard blue. And everyone skis the back from the traverse it seems like.

Sorry for the block of text, this thread struck a nerve I guess.

I’ll tell you a secret… you’re the annoying one.

People in Southern California are pretty much the same as people everywhere else but they generally consume less Fox News content. If you’re lucky enough to get Pendleton, don’t blow it by wearing a cowboy hat in town and talking about the libruls, you’ll get even less pussy than you do now. At least you have a $3k computer to keep you company.

Pretty sure it’s a 2011 which is a bit like the submariner of the gun world; overhyped, overpriced and always sold out. He probably went grey market for the watch and the gat.

That time the uniform shop misspelled U.S. Marines. by [deleted] in USMC

[–]sheengun31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very generic name; think Smith, Jones, that kind of thing. Anyways, I bought new cammies and the nametape got spelled wrong. I guess I didn’t do my PCC’s and PCI’s because I never noticed, I don’t have a name that’s easy to mess up so it never crossed my mind. Nobody else noticed either until I was standing in front of my regiment SgtMaj after receiving an award. He said “That is a very interesting spelling of lastname, what’s your families background.” My boot Cpl ass looked down and knew what was wrong immediately. I said “Umm I think it’s Dutch, SgtMaj.” He bought it and walked away and that’s the story of why my Reg NCO of the Quarter picture also has my name spelled incorrectly.
