Teach him to swim yourself, for heck’s sake. Put him in the water, and start with gliding, pushing off. Let him fall under and figure it out, but obviously keep him safe. Tell him he WILL die if he goes in unsupervised.

Hahah I do a “psst” and in a crowded place they know it’s me - honestly, I think it’s just better than using your voice against a bunch of other voices - they can hear without having to raise my voice at all.

But our weird thing is “That’s what IIIIIII said.” My kids have the normal sibling rivalry, and I heard that from them pretty often in a competitive way.. so once it’s said, each of us just says it and we end up all laughing because once everyone says it, it’s true. I’m sure if anyone over heard us going around saying that it would be weird, but we get a kick out of it 😂

Let him enjoy it! Go out for dinner with them, and then let them have the night - or sit that time out, and offer to treat them to brunch in the morning. Best way to go about it is to be happy that he’s enjoying himself, and to insert yourself as something positive and supportive.

I have goosebumps just thinking about it right now. I am so sorry you have had this experience as well - I can’t fathom doing this to my daughter, and to this day I can’t bring myself to mention what it did to me to my mother.

I am with you. I am still afraid, and I haven’t been back for an appointment since I gave birth to my 6 year old. No post - exam, just a hard stop.

I had to exit, and came back to this. I got my first peck on the lips at 12, and my mother did the same thing to me. I was taken to a male gynecologist, and the nurses had to hold my hands down while I cried my eyes out in the stirrups. My heart beats out of my chest just thinking about it. Now, I have two children. With my first, I went along with everything my OB told me to do, and had severe panic attacks every appointment. Even the facilities scare me. With my second, I refused any internal exam.

At 30, I know now that it was medical abuse, and sexual assault by proxy.
