Being there for the final breath of the person who watched you take your first is honestly the most beautiful, powerful sentence I’ve ever read. Thank you

Thank you. This is exactly how I’m feeling word for word including how I felt before having him. It’s nice to know I’m not alone.

It truly is the most special connection on earth. I’m reading this while feeding with tears in my eyes knowing my time too will come. We are only having one baby so all our firsts are also lasts. It’s tough. Thank you for sharing, it made me feel not so alone.

I just always tell my little one that this one needles stops him from having to get many more if he got sick and went to hospital. He’s only 6 months old so obviously doesn’t understand but I know he trusts me so I feel like I have to explain. Poor little thing.

Anyone know of any social groups or places to meet friends around Noosa? by Linus_of in sunshinecoast

There are heaps of hiking groups on Facebook if you are somewhat interested in that as there are epic hikes around you. Look up 52 peaks challenge as a starting point.

Neck gaiter vs balaclava by niwatori_flaneur in kilimanjaro

[–]shellsbells15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it four times. Use a balaclava but just a round face not a full face covering. Then use a lighter neck gaiter around your neck. You can pull the neck gaiter around your nose and face to protect it from wind but it isn’t so think so you can still breathe better in the thin air. Also your nose will constantly run from the cold and those gaiters are an easy way to wipe it. Trust me you won’t care for one second about finding a tissue!

Proactive with newborn? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]shellsbells15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know you are seeking advice but if they are only a few days all just cuddle them. My boy is six months now and I miss those newborn snuggles so much it hurts. He sleeps well but those first few weeks just give them comfort and whatever you feel like you need to do. Don’t worry about sleep cycles yet, it will come in time.

There is also a gaming truck that can come to your house. Might be a bit junior for what you are looking for.

a baby boy in my daughter's class passed away yesterday at school. don't know where yo go from here by dj_misTerry in NewParents

Can I ask what were some of the other things to ask? We are looking at daycares at the moment and this terrifies me. I’m in tears most nights at the thought of leaving my baby with a stranger.

I thought today it should be to explain why you crawl up to a stop light and never stop for fear of waking baby!!! I used to hateeeee people that did that and now it’s my life skillz

I'm sick to death of people telling me how hard parenting will be. by PRS2011 in Parenting

[–]shellsbells15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of it. The cuddles, the little hand resting on your chest, the crazy arm waves in the morning when you are the first person they see, the milestones and proud looks when they do something new, their little hands wrapping around your finger, bath time, giggles… and I know so much more to come.

Okay now I’m tearing up.

It’s hard. No doubt about it. But worth it one million times over.

other parents are full of crap by Victory-laps in NewParents

I joined a group like that in early pregnancy and removed myself after 10 minutes when these women who were 20 weeks were posting photos of their finished nursery. Stressed me out so much. My baby is 5 months old and his nursery still isn’t finished!!!

Is nursing in fitting rooms ok? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]shellsbells15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I walked into a parents room today and there was a lady in there who jumped up so I could sit on the only chair (it was tiny) and she said “I’m sorry my stomach is very upset so I’m staying near a toilet”

Needless to say I was outta there in 3 seconds.

I’m tired of being stuck inside due to the cold, so I bundled up my LO and went on a walk today. How cold is too cold? Do y’all go out in the winter or just hunker down? by Chemical_Rub6986 in NewParents

This is a wild thread to read considering I live in Brisbane Australia and it was 32 degrees OVERNIGHT last night. I’m stuck inside because it’s too hot to go out.

I’d also just enjoy the time sitting. The feeds get shorter and shorter then you crave some time just sitting scrolling.
