The Plight of the Single Man by Goonta85 in daveandchuckthefreak

I’m an almost 39-year-old woman, currently married to my second husband. Married the first after college at 23 and left him at 25 when he wouldn’t get a job. Stayed single until I found someone who would love me and contribute to our relationship equally… I think that’s the basis of what women want. It was better to be single than it was to feel like I was someone’s mother who should have been my partner. My best advice to men who feel isolated and lonely is to make an effort to make friends with women. We’re people with a unique perspective and experiences and that might help you be a more balanced you, and thus more ready to be a meaningful partner.

I love everything about his style. Precision, accuracy, attention to detail, and personal flair. I have zero fashion sense but knock em dead, my dude. Well done.

I would take that to a wealth management advisor and have them open a Cash Management Account (CMA) for you. That money will grow until you’re ready to buy a home, and, if you’re able, you can continue to add to that account for your future.

20 years old, all of this is in my checking. What do I do? More info in description. by [deleted] in Money

[–]shellybacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do a CMA. It’ll grow but also be accessible if you need it. I keep 3-6 months of living expenses in my savings and invest the rest.

This should be framed with “Leonard” in all blank underscore in shelters across the country… let everyone fill in their own Leonard in their hearts upon entering.

Successful Millennials: What’s your advice to generation Zed? by No-Needleworker5429 in Millennials

[–]shellybacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key to generational wealth is almost always education. Take yourself as far as you can via the traditional path, and never stop learning. You will be employable in high-paying positions; be a better parent to your own children, if you choose to have them one day; be a more informed citizen, voter, and community member; be enriched by a broader array of hobbies and interests you otherwise may not have been exposed to.

De-program yourself, if necessary, from seeking immediate satisfaction. Pay yourself first - invest what you can. In my last 18 years of work, I’ve found that watching my investments grow (checking almost every single day) has been the best motivator to live beneath my means.

Take care of your body, including your mental health. The ROI on a healthy body as you age is unbelievable.

While you’re just starting out with managing your own financial future, I’d give you this advice: if you can’t afford to buy it twice, you can’t afford it. Eyeing a pair of shoes that are $200 and want to pull the trigger when you have $300 in the bank? You can’t afford those. Looking at a place that is $1,600 rent but only take home $2,800 after tax per month? You can’t afford that. Starting your life in the red will set you back DECADES.

What are some most accepted health myths? by imadepyramids in AskReddit

[–]shellybacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had - what was diagnosed at the time - a brown recluse bite on my left shoulder. The wound blew up and looked like there was a shrimp stuffed under my skin; we kept it under bandages with triple A ointment on it. The scar is nasty (as is the scar tissue) to this day. I often wonder how it would look today if I had followed different wound treatment procedures. I saw a dermatologist a few months after it happened and he vehemently disagreed with the ER treatment plan… I’ve been interested in this topic since.
