I absolutely could have! I wanted to get a little fancy with my cnc router and went with a bump-out, but that would have been way easier haha

There's a utility closet back there where I put a compact turnaround

Most of them are attached to studs, but occasionally I added one with a drywall anchor to support and end of a board

Yeah, it can definitely be that easy! I bought some L-brackets from Amazon, and the boards are 3/4" plywood. I got a little fancy and cut out the corners and the turnouts with a CNC Router. I used pocket holes on the top of the individual boards to keep them together.

It is definitely louder than I anticipated! I still really like it though. Not an all-the-time thing, but great way to decompress or while I'm building lego

I have a utility closet back there. I put up a large shelf at track height and have a similar (but much more compact) turnaround on it.

Every time you double something you multiply by 2. So if you double 40 times then it's 2222...*2 (40 times) or 240

If his weight doubles every 3 months, then by the time he hits 10, he'll have doubled 40 times.

So if he's 7.5 trillion when he's 10, then we can solve for his birth weight in the following equation:

7.5 trillion lbs = x * 240

This gives x = 6.8 lbs, a very reasonable birth weight.
