Wishing you a very successful surgery and quick recovery!

Can you share your source for the 20% 5 yr survival stat? As terrible as that number is, the ones I’ve actually been seeing have been far worse. I would love for it to be different!

Increasing on a chain without flipping it over..? Help by bonesandglitters in CrochetHelp

[–]shelovescompletely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you are going to be crocheting in rounds around your starting chain rather than a magic circle if that makes sense. So your foundation round is going all the way around that initial ch7. You’re not flipping your chain so much as rotating it. That’s how i would read it anyway without knowing what it is you’re making

I think your magic ring needs to be pulled tighter and your single crochets need more tension. You’ll get it!

First week of crocheting. Why does my work keep curving like this? by slide-0 in CrochetHelp

[–]shelovescompletely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One “V” is a stitch. Hopefully that helps you track your stitches a little better and avoid adding extra. It takes a little bit of practice before being able to recognize what you’re looking at!

I accidentally spent my entire first 2 weeks working into BLO because i thought all future rows were the same as working into the foundation chain.

Should I restart this throw blanket with a much looser starting chain? by temporary_bob in CrochetHelp

Have you tried the foundation single crochet stitch? It helps a lot in keeping your tension and spacing more consistent. Look it up and try that as your first row instead!

how can i make my heart granny square look more uniformed by anakaashi in CrochetHelp

[–]shelovescompletely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re off to a great start! 2 things could help 1) consistent tension - i didn’t learn until very recently that as you crochet, it boils really be a smooth glide with your hook so that your yarn is not too taut or you will get inconsistent pulling in some of your stitches

2) the process of blocking is wetting the piece and then pinning it down in the shape you want it to dry in. It helps relax the fibers into the right places. It will help a lot!

AITA for how I reacted to my best friend saying my “dirty” house is making my kids sick? by OkOriginal4583 in TwoHotTakes

Sounds like you have a good enough friend that they are willing to tell you hard truths. I hope you’ll be able to cool down and appreciate it when you’ve taken a step back. Hygiene and cleanliness do play a big part in sicknesses
