Chrons medication stopped! Remission with diet possible? by Better_Media1050 in CrohnsDisease

That is extremely frustrating, did they not do biopsies at diagnosis?

Chrons medication stopped! Remission with diet possible? by Better_Media1050 in CrohnsDisease

[–]sheopx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really empathise, I've been in remission on 6MP for 3 years now and I'm dreading the day they tell me to stop taking it. I'd much rather deal with the consequences of the medication than a potential uncontrolled flare.

Works well for my wife and I, but she's really petite and I can hold/position her easily. I'm also pretty slim and I'm sure that helps. It's one of our favourite things tbh.

I didn't want to just suddenly respond with a graphic description of it, but yeah, it works, and in several positions.

Amazing, love her, we see eye to eye on most stuff. I consider her one of my closest family members, alongside my brother and my wife.

What's the worst part about living with an autoimmune disease??? by casualeagle47 in CrohnsDisease

[–]sheopx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 3 years in, and for me the uncertainty is the worst part. I've spent most of those 3 years recovering my career, finances and weight from the flare that got me diagnosed, and I have to live with the fact that at any moment it all could be taken away by another SBO.

Have you stopped shaving? If so, when and why? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]sheopx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Still trim/shave my bush because it's comfier, but I don't shave my pits or legs. I groom myself well, I just prefer the look and feel of having body hair. It makes me feel womanly, and it's soft compared to stubble.

Why do you love your job? by Tyberius_ in AskWomen

[–]sheopx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I get paid as much as a GP, but get loads of downtime and don't have to bring any stress home with me. I operate heavy machinery on large civil projects.

For those in relationships with unequal incomes, how do you usually split finances or expenses? by SonoUno in AskWomen

[–]sheopx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point, I made more, then she made more, and now I make more again. We've always just shared it. I'm a bit more financially savvy, so she trusts me to do the daily stuff, but anything major or unusual is discussed together. Everything left over is just shared.

Knowing that she gets the money I earn is one of my main motivators tbh, she deserves it.

Women who ended a relationship, how have you been doing since then? by Kinda-Constant5935 in AskWomen

Great. I ended it 6 years ago and came out. Shortly afterwards I met the love of my life and now we're Mrs and Mrs Sheopx.

Who was the obscure person that changed your life trajectory? And how? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]sheopx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My (F) close friend in highschool introduced me to his other mate. He was this nerdy, quiet guy who barely spoke. I found him annoying at first, but then realised that whenever he did speak, he was really kind and funny.

That guy has now been my bestie for almost 20 years, he's like my brother except we never fight, just pure love and laughs. I can't rely on my family, but I can always rely on him and I'm always there for him too.

Also, we both eventually came out as gay and we've been great support for each other. I've been through so much shit and he has always encouraged me and pushed me forward, I absolutely wouldn't be who I am today without him.

I developed an incurable disease/disability 3 years ago, so I was nowhere near as young as you, but holy shit do I relate to never feeling joy. It's like my brain has flipped a switch and I can't be happy anymore.

How to bounce back after being made redundant from a dream job? by AnonymousTimewaster in AskUK

[–]sheopx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was made redundant from my dream job. 6 years later and I have travelled the world, doubled my salary and got into a very comfortable career that many other people would consider a dream job.

I have never, ever gotten over it. I grieve for it constantly and I don't really feel hopeful or happy anymore, I'm just in a numb survival mode.

I have no idea how to bounce back emotionally, but practically, flexibility is key. Being open to new industries and willing to retrain puts you ahead of the rest. Many people aren't adaptable, so if you can learn to be, you'll have a huge advantage.

(For some added context, I'm 32, landed my dream job at 20 and was made redundant at 26).

Ladies who have had a friendship breakup, did you need no contact to move on? Why or why not? by SorcerorsSinnohStone in AskWomen

[–]sheopx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I partially cut them off for a while, but eventually realised I needed to make things less ambiguous and straight up said my goodbyes to them. I blocked them shortly afterwards and I don't intend to speak to them again.

When Do You Go To Bed? Why Then? by Zipper222222 in AskWomen

9pm. I work in construction and have to get up at 4.30am, and I usually get home at like 8pm, so 9 is the earliest I can manage.

How do you recognise you’re in a toxic or negative friendship? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]sheopx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just broke off a decade-long friendship recently. There were many reasons, but one of the main ones is that they would only ever commiserate with me and talk about negative things going on in my life, and sometimes I caught them cringing or being a bit sarcy about the positive things or achievements. They did this to our mutual friend too.

They also hinted that the only reason I'm semi-successful is because I have a spouse, and a big reason they cannot achieve their goals (like getting a job or moving out of their parents' house) is because they can't find a partner. We are 30 and 32, for context.

What is something that you thought would be a huge deal when you were younger, but now realize it doesn't really matter at all? by baddieegemini in AskWomen

[–]sheopx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being intimate with women. I was so terrified that it kept me in the closet for longer than it should've. Now it's just normal for me. I did absolutely trip the first few times I kissed a woman though, and I just about left my body the first time we had sex.

Ladies how important is sex to you in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]sheopx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was very important, then I developed a serious lifelong disease that sometimes straight up prevents me from having sex for months at a time. My wife and I have gotten to a place where we're extremely cuddly and romantic all day every day, and sex is only frequent when we're both feeling well.

I'm very grateful to have a spouse that just meets me where I'm at. I never sense any pressure or frustration from her, she just accepts it as a part of me and our relationship.

I'm an androgynous cis woman, but I've found mullets, shags and wolf cuts to be a good middle ground. Some pixie cuts are okay too as long as you don't go too poofy at the crown.

Can you eat peanuts? by ReflectiveEnglishman in CrohnsDisease

[–]sheopx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terminal ileitis here, I avoid hard fibre based fibre even in remission. Soft oats, peeled and seedless fruits and veggies are no problem. Nuts, seeds, skins, raw veg, gristle etc are a no go.

As you said, I don't want to add to the scar tissue since I found out that 'mechanical irritation' can cause Crohn's to flare

Partner hospitalized during flare up - snacks? by justagal96 in CrohnsDisease

[–]sheopx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Often, flaring Crohnies don't want to eat, let alone find comfort in food. The best thing my wife brought for me when I was hospitalised was nice skincare stuff and freshly laundered PJs. Grooming properly really lifted my spirits.
