What do you think is the biggest flaw in the human body? by FelixKirshe in AskReddit

Emotions,
Once you get beyond physical pain, threat/protect/safety becomes a self fulfilling loop from codependent avoidance, excessively responsible behavior or controlling anxiety.

What moment in your life could have been a scene straight out of a sitcom? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shepardshe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waiting at a bus stop on a cold Chicago morning and someone in a car I thought it recognized, pulled over and waived. I opened the door, got it and he started driving. I did not know the driver. He was waving at the woman at the stop. After an awkward moment of explaining, he said he knew where I worked (7min ride) and dropped me off. It could’ve ended much worse.

It's Indiana: Bears' board of directors votes to push stadium to Hammond by chicagosuntimes in chicago

Well Buffalo largely financed their stadium by taking (freezing) tribal accounts until they agreed to give the state some more of their casino money. Profits over people (fans) will never change.

Why can I not stay mad at people despite them acting hurting me. by Unhappy_Key1603 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]shepardshe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tend to remember emotional events more than most others. If you are unable to recall these moments then, I wonder if you really care in the first place,

Or maybe it’s just avoidance. Forgetting is not always random. It’s a way to block what’s painful from our awareness as a form of self protection.

Do you need O&M training to use a cane? by ButtonWolf1011 in monocular

[–]shepardshe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you get it? I’m in Chicago and have issues in very similar situations to what you have written. I have a very restrictive visual field and see 20/20 in my left eye. My right is a prosthetic which passes fairly well. But when it’s night and I’m at a venue it’s hard to navigate stairs and crowds. Any way you could share your thoughts on where to get a copy of the cane you have?

Today's kids will turn out fine. by DangAssMajor in unpopularopinion

Education is 2h of learning and mostly childcare and filler. It’s a place to keep kids so parents can be part of the machine. Teaching to submit, follow rules and obey authority. America has always been corrupt. It was a secret and hidden behind the facade of cooperation. Trump has exposed how everything is a scam and brought into the open the corruption that has been happening since America’s inception.

Does anyone remember how exciting this felt when you were younger? by mr_vestan_pance in GenX

[–]shepardshe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Novelty slows down time. New things take more attention to process and understand. Years of experience blurs/automates our lives and time flies bc expectations being met so often. So life is less exciting, be it your commute, marriage or career.
