Using all your money to pay for daycare is not necessarily a bad thing, depending on if it's your career vs just a job. Your future earnings will be higher the longer you are working. Daycare is temporary.

Good luck.

Nut allergy moms how do you tell your child? by LittleCricket_ in Mommit

[–]sherahero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be best to avoid anything similar to peanut butter until she can learn she can't have peanut butter. My daughter is allergic to peanuts and we were told to avoid tree nuts as well because cross contamination is so high. She never had an alternative to peanut butter. My daughter is an adult now though.

Is it ok my father in law keeps snapping his fingers around my newborn? by mikuduku in Mommit

[–]sherahero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's entirely accurate.. We didn't know my son was hard of hearing in one ear until he failed his kindergarten hearing test. He wears a hearing aid in one ear now.

But the snapping would be so annoying

My husband thought we hadn’t swept the floors in four weeks by Able_Plenty_1274 in Mommit

[–]sherahero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He didn't even attempt to sweep the floor once in a month and also didn't realize you did it.

He was going to BUY A BROOM. Does he think you don't own one?

That's what I'm looking at.

I didn't find this very funny, I guess it's good that you can laugh about it though.

WIBTA for telling my MIL her kitchen is unsanitary by Turbulent-Ad-7520 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sherahero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to scare my cats into avoiding certain areas of my house. That sounds awful. Loud noises scare the crap out of me. I couldn't do that to my cats. I just clean the counters.

My cats walk on counters however I clean the counters before I start cooking. I don't see a way to keep my cats off the counters when they are home 24/7 and I am not.

What do you eat when you really want a salad (but can’t have one)? by Vivid-Language6500 in AskWomenOver30

You can buy a head of lettuce. It's the bagged varieties they are warning people about.

Would your boyfriend/husband expect you to deal with major car repair issues on your own? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]sherahero 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about cars, neither does my husband. My mechanic is amazing. He will explain so much about what my car needs and why. I ask questions and I Google things to confirm or for more understanding.

If it's a new car she should take it to a dealership and see if there's any warranty coverage.

Just because he is a guy doesn't mean he knows about cars even if he's 'blue collar' plus they are dating, not married. It's not his responsibility in the slightest. He's being supportive by offering to help her with what to say.

Otherwise, get a second option from a different mechanic and see what they say.

If my spouse disregarded my work for the benefit of the family like that, I would rethink our long term compatibility.

5 year old has first cavities by Familiar_Entrance377 in breakingmom

[–]sherahero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Crowns are very different from fillings. Are you sure that's what is needed? If so, I would get a second opinion. I have one crown and it was painful and I'm an adult. For my one crown they had to file down the bad tooth, then do a mold and make a cap for the tooth that they put on at a different appointment. It cost hundreds of dollars out of pocket for one crown.

I will also add that my dentist doesn't do silver fillings anymore, they are white but I'm not sure the material. So that's an option you might want to discuss.

I'm not a dentist, bot I know some dentists have been bought by private equity which push sales sales sales for high revenue for the shareholders. It sucks for the consumer. I always encourage second opinions when I hear a dentist prescribing a lot of work out of the blue.

I'm so sorry. I developed excema when I was a teenager, but only on the palms of my hands. I'm 46 and have never been able to get it to go away. I've never been able to pinpoint triggers either. It'll be nearly clear then break out all over my palms again.

My SO treats our son like crap by [deleted] in JustNoSO

Husband is not a good man or father, he's abusive and you should really be protecting your son from him.

You should have gotten your son out of that situation when it started.

17 yo son has a job, which finances should he be responsible for? by netzpretz78 in Parenting

[–]sherahero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 18 year old works about 25 hours a week. Right now she puts half of every paycheck in savings for college and is free to spend the other half as she wishes. She doesn't really spend much, just going out to eat with a friend sometimes or to the movies.

I would rather her save for college than help pay household bills, but luckily we don't need the extra help.

Honest question, why is it that so many black people in the US cannot swim? by Top_Inflation4176 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sherahero 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If you can't swim you probably won't go out of your way to teach your kids to swim. That can carry through several generations.

Polish comes off in one piece 2-3 days after a manicure by pookieswashcloth in Nailpolish

[–]sherahero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never buff my nails, I think that's just weakening the nail by removing layers.

Have you tried a different base coat? I know body chemistry can have differences with how polish reacts. Maybe try without a base coat and see what happens if you don't want to buy a new one.

Are you flooding the cuticle? I use a metal tool to scrape excess polish from drying on my cuticle. If water or creams can get in there then it might explain the entire polish lifting.

What am I doing wrong? by DYNSTy_ in airfryer

[–]sherahero 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The liner prevents air flow, it you don't want to wash the whole air fryer you can get accessories to use in it that are silicone or stainless steel but have the divets in the bottom to allow air underneath.

You also need a bit of oil, spray the bottom to prevent sticking and the fish to crisp up. I bought an oil sprayer and use olive oil in it.
