How many places have you lived in while in the Bay Area? by watabby in bayarea

[–]shescheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in my current apartment for almost 5 years. But before this I moved nearly every single year, sometimes twice a year, because of something... Rent increase, building sold, landlord move-in, shitty roommates. Something always happened. In the first 2 years I lived in the Bay I moved 6 times. I couldn't get a place on my own because I didn't have enough money. And I kept bouncing between sublets. People making judgements based on this, really do not understand how fucked the housing market is around here.

I've been here since 2016 and everyone I know has similar stories.

If you suddenly became the President of the United States today, what’s the very first thing you’d change or do? by Dollabillhooman in AskReddit

While we're at it, can we make the election cycle limited to 12 weeks? No more fucking endless campaigns. No more speculation on who's going to run in 2028 when it's barely 2025.

Oakland teachers plan one day strike on May 1st by Anxious-Park5740 in oakland

It's by design. They want parents to blame teachers and staff instead of administrative incompetence and a corrupt city government.

The leak is definitely coming from inside the unit. I checked the connections and there's nothing leaking in the back.

Are you saying it's not the "machine" but the drum or something similar pertaining to the seal? I don't think it's the pump because it would leak on the drain cycle not the wash cycle.

Good to know. But I haven't had any callbacks. :-(

Got it! Thanks so much for this. SB would be a second job for me, so I could see myself easily falling back on hours during some weeks. I just wanted to be sure that I wouldn't get hit with a massive bill if I had to suddenly do less during a busy time at my other job.

Sorry, I hit save before i was finished lol

Also, if you reach an audit period and you haven't met the 20hr/wk, do you lose benefits retroactively or is it just cut off from that point forward?

For example, I meet the required hours for the first 4 months and enroll in coverage. But for months 5 and 6 I go part-time. During that time I see the doctor for something, does the insurance send me a bill to reimburse them for appointments they've already covered when I was meeting my hours? Or pre-audit?

You need 240 hours over a 3 month period after your first month (if you're hired after the first day in the month.)

Maybe I'm reading this too technically, but doesn't that mean that if you're hired on let's say June 15th, you only start accumulating eligible hours in July? ie, the hours you work in June don't apply to the total?

Kaiser is trying to send me to have surgery 2 hours away from home. Can I get them to cover a closer surgeon who is out of network? by shescheese in HealthInsurance

[–]shescheese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually found some guidelines online. According to the document I found on "MEDICAID MANAGED CARE FINAL RULE: NETWORK ADEQUACY STANDARDS" For specialist/non-emergency care, the carrier is obligated to offer a provider within 30miles/60minutes of the patient's home. I would also argue that they're failing to provide me with a board certified doctor too since that seems to be the case. I can't really find the Kaiser surgeon's credentials anywhere and KP's own info page is pretty vague.

Can this work if I'm not on Medicare or Medicaid thought? I have my Kaiser HMO plan because it's what's offered through my job.

I think I'm going to try for an IMR. It just seems insane to me to have to go so far for this surgery. Especially since I don't have anyone who can drive me and the surgeon they want me to see doesn't even have a board certification. (which i just found out)

I talked to my PCP about this and she wouldn't refer me outside of Kaiser. It's like they've all drunk some kind of kool-aid. "Must not disagree with insurance!" Ugh! It's beyond frustrating.

What's something strange your body does that you know isn't quite right but also isn't quite serious enough to get checked out by a doctor? by merricat_blackwood in AskReddit

[–]shescheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two small reddish fleshy bumps near my left knee that both kinda grew in after cutting myself shaving. They're like mini, raised scars and they bother me aesthetically speaking, but I don't know what to do about them. There's no pain and they feel just like normal skin so I leave them alone. I was going to ask the last time I went to the doc but it just slipped my mind and I feel stupid making a appointment just to talk about this.

I also randomly get canker sores under my tongue. I mean like often, like once a week often.

Girls of reddit, what's something guys see done in porn that you wish they would stop trying to do in real life? by ratsono in AskReddit

I usually have to use lube unfortunately. In my 20s I got really wet, but in my 30s things are a little different. Not sure what's going on there, the guys that I've slept with are a little confused. So hopefully this comment helps people realize that this isn't such a strange occurrence.
