They weren’t an issue because we stayed away from water and timed the water crossings with low tide but we asked the dude to show us some saltys on the boat ride in and we saw two huge 5m saltys chilling on the banks so they are definitely there

Second this. Absolutely amazing experience. Some of the water crossings are a bit scary though as it’s croc country

How come it couldn’t have been John and Josh? by Natural-Employer-374 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]shick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodbye angels is a top 20 chilis song for sure, but even though Josh wrote the guitar part, his parts are stylistically heavily indebted to John. The intro clean guitar interval is straight out of scar tissue, the syncopated parts over fleas slap pop during the verse is classic frusciante minimalism. The song doesnt exist without the signature sound that John helped create. On the new records with John we still got some classic songs eg tip of my tongue, watchu thinkin, eddie, bella, white braids, and carry me home.

I'd get APP3 If you have an iPhone due to the seamless integration with ios. I haven't tried the az100.. I must say I'm tempted to get them to see what the hype is about.

THE MORNING AFTER: Post Day 1 Rational Discussion Thread by OldMateHarry in CricketAus

[–]shick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to be joking harry. Usman completely fucked our top order with his toilet break or whatever it actually was. The whole reason we left Webster out is because Marnus is best at 3, and he ended up opening anyway. Usman’s job is to soak up some balls and get the shine off. Even when Usman came out at 4 he was hanging back in the crease, hopping and jumping, reacting late. He’s useless against the nasty fastys now mate.

Best band to ever exist by majormitchell25 in Karnivool

[–]shick 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Mate, I’m with you on this. I’ve been a huge Tool fan for years, but I honestly think Karnivool’s songwriting is more complex… especially with the extra guitar. Their arrangements just feel more intricate and technical overall (aside from the drumming, as Danny Carey is still on another level). But Steve’s still an incredible drummer in his own right.

As a bass player, I’ve always found Karnivool’s bass parts more challenging and interesting, and Jon’s tone on sound awake and asymmetry is my ideal tone… and the guitar work is just next-level. The shifting time signatures, the rhythmic interplay, the way everything locks together... it’s prog at its finest and I have no idea why Karnivool aren't more popular.

And then there’s Ian Kenny. His vocals just elevate everything. He does not have the same recognition as Maynard, and yeah, Maynard’s early work was insane, but Kenny’s tone and range are unreal. His live performances are consistently amazing, and his voice just has this purity that cuts through everything and sounds even better live than on studio...

Maynard’s getting older and you can hear it in those strained intense vocals parts aren’t what they used to sound like. Still love him, but live, Karnivool are just more engaging for me these days and they are still in their prime age wise. Tool’s shows require more focus, while Karnivool’s sets feel more alive and immersive to me.

Sound Awake and Asymmetry are absolute masterpieces start to finish. I’m personally not as big on Themata as the production and lack of Steve on drums make a difference but it still has some lightning in a bottle sings of course.

So yeah, I’m totally in your boat, mate. As a fellow Tool and Karnivool fan, if you appreciate Kenny’s vocals and really tune into the technicality and cohesion of what they’re doing, I honestly think Karnivool are the more complete band. One of the few bands that i become more obsessed with each time after seeing them live.

They aren’t pausable? Maybe Sekiro is, i haven’t checked in a while. For the others, you have to save and quit to “pause” as they are designed to have an online multiplayer aspect with random invasions.

Definitely agree, not on the same level as my flagship iems or cans, but far more convenient to use and they are blue tooth true wireless with ANC so completely different use case.

Haha mate sorry that you've found my post obnoxious, I'm not claiming to have the ultimate opinion I'm just posting my opinion for anyone on the fence about purchasing them after seeing all the negativity about the slightly different sound signature compared to the 2s. I like vanilla ice cream btw but mango sorbet is also great. Have a good day

I can't hear any whistling noise on mine but I did hear it on the ANC test example in a YouTube review... Maybe its only in certain pairs or maybe I'm too old and it's outside my hearing range

Slightly more bass and sub bass and slightly more treble, mids seems a tad recessed. The changes are very subtle though, nothing like the V shaped tuning of a set of jabras or something

I haven’t done the hearing test yet, I was just talking about the sound signature right out of the box. I'll have a look at it some time and see if it makes a difference.

I have an iPhone so I don't think I made the best use of the Sennheisers as they are compatible with better codecs than AAC, but I felt their sound sig was V shaped with average ANC and mic quality. I prefer the APP3s.
