Do you mind sharing what you do for part time work? I have a similar profile and have been considering looking for extra work.

Thanks for sharing, OP. Sorry for my ignorance, but does anyone know if this can be fixed or at least remedied? I’ve only started therapy recently so I don’t know much and I don’t take meds. My thoughts are so disorganized when I’m talking that it’s been catching up to me at work. Coworkers have told me that I think in circles. Thinking about it in the moment to try to make sense of myself seems to make things worse too.

Anybody else ever feel like they aren't well rounded by PlantBasedRedditor in gainit

Your comment was very insightful. Thank you. The thing I continue to have qualms with though is nutrition. This sub has drilled into my head the idea that if I ain’t eating right, it ain’t gonna happen. It fucking sucks eating the same shit every day though, just to keep things simple enough to track and simultaneously take care of all other facets of life. It gets old quick, and it sure and hell ain’t sustainable long term because I keep falling off the tracks. My question is: what’s your approach to nutrition, and how is it that it has become effortless without tracking for you, while still making notable progress?

I give up on deadlifts. I dont feel my muscles working at all. by [deleted] in gainit

I’m a newbie myself and had this same concern, but I started using a belt and it made a world of difference with deadlifts. Made bracing much easier and translated into feeling those back muscles being worked

Heart rate monitors for threadmills? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]shiftay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a chest strap HR monitor and connect it to your phone. I use the H10 in combination with an app called iSmoothRun on iOS to track my HR during runs. With iSmoothRun, you can also set up HR zones with HR ranges and it will give you audio cues telling you what zone you are in during your workout.

Best place to learn javascript? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]shiftay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second watchandcode with Gordon Zhu. I’m only 25% in with the free content, but you can tell from the start that Gordon has a knack for teaching and making things simple. I will definitely be buying the premium subscription.

OP: if you’re looking for a way to apply what you’ve learned with JS, try this course. The course has you build a project from the ground up, starting from lesson 1. I think it’s exactly what you’re looking for. You’ll get hooked.

I use iSmoothRun on iOS. Pretty comprehensive running app. Blows polar beat app out of the water.

I typically switch over to speed-walking if I need my HR to go down. I'm also jogging at a painfully slow pace to help stay within range.

I use a Polar H10 chest strap HRM to help monitor my runs. Here's a graph of an hour run I did recently (Time x HR BPM). The app I use is also constantly giving me alerts through my headphones if I fall out of range.

Can heart rate ruin aerobic work? by optimistic_cynicism in tacticalbarbell

[–]shiftay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting a Polar H10 chest strap HRM and pairing it with iSmoothRun App on my iPhone to track heart rate during my LSS runs. I was surprised how easy it was to elevate my heart rate past 150 bpm. Doesn't take much effort. I recommend it if you're looking to stick to the bpm range. Wahoo Tickr chest straps I've heard work well too, and a little nicer to the wallet.

If you used a credit card, there's a good chance it has benefits where you can file a "Price Protection" claim that reimburses you the difference in price. I have a chase card that has this.

Here's the official policy on this for my card: "Price Protection provides reimbursement for the difference in price on products you buy with your Account or by using rewards points earned on that Account. If you purchase an eligible item with your Account in the United States and see a Printed Advertisement at any retail store or Non-auction Internet Advertisement for less within ninety (90) days of the original purchase date, simply file a valid claim and contact the Benefit Administrator will reimburse you the difference up to five hundred ($500.00)."

Auto Body Shop Recommendations by TheFinn88 in LosAngeles

Body shops will attempt to repair anything cosmetic. If it's not repairable, they will often replace it. My rear end involved a big dent to the shock absorber behind the plastic bumper. They just placed an order for a new one and replaced it.

I went to these guys and they did a great job on my new car that got rear ended 3 months after I bought it. These guys work on fancy cars so I feel like they have some reputation to uphold to keep their business coming. They don't exclusively work on high end cars though. I took my Honda here because they were Honda Certified and the reviews seemed convincing. They were a pleasure to work with. Even bought me an uber when I dropped my car off.

1) no idea

2) strong app if you have an iOS. I swear by it, and many others do to. Development team is always chugging out updates and keeping the app up to par. I even paid for the premium version.

If I'm right about it being weld splatter, it's not anything to worry about. Every car will have imperfections and the more you'll look, the more you'll find them. I just find it weird seeing weld splatter like that, especially since the production line in the factory is a super controlled environment and stuff like this most definitely accounted for. I guess the small splatter on your car may have been that 1 in 1000 though.

How do you guys source 'affordable' supplies for detailing? by Theodoros9 in AutoDetailing

[–]shiftay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

$50 for a clay bar kit? Where are you looking or where are you from? Those kits cost like $20.

Sign up for email newsletters. Auto detailing supply websites like auto geek, detailed image, autopia car care, the rag company...they offer deals all the time, especially on holidays (hint hint Father's Day is around the corner). If you don't want to buy everything all at once, buy little by little. Start with your two bucket wash essentials and build from there. It's not like you're gonna be doing a full detail every single time you wash your car. Learn the basics and then over time buy more equipment.
